    Israel Facists Surely Not???

Labour MP Kim Johnson apologised to the Commons after describing the Israeli government as 'fascist'. She made the comments at Prime Minister's Questions, but was ordered to retract them by her party whips

Same old same old hatred living in the bowels of Labour

She was right to retract her claim that the Israeli government is fascist.

There are now Israeli fascists in the government, but to characterise the whole right wing racist government that way would be incorrect. Netanyahu is many bad things but he is not a fascist. Ben Gvir probably is.

However it is a great shame that she was pressured into retracting her description of Israel as an apartheid state - which is wholly accurate and the label applied by the most significant human rights organisations internationally and inside Israel itself.

And for LOM's benefit, the Labour Party is happy to label socialist Jews whose families were murdered in Nazi death camps as anti semites, because they refuse to endorse the racist sate ideology that is Zionism.

Tbf planning to neuter the power of the Israeli Supreme Court because Netanyahu and Deri are either under investigation or prosecuted is more corrupt rather than fascistic.

I know she was ordered to retract.

And 'why so many cases like this'? Kier Starmer describes himself as a proud Zionist and a friend of Israel - seemingly regardless of how far it breaks international law and succeeds in ethnically cleansing the land 'given to them by God' of non-Jews. Silencing opposition inside the Labour Party (and silencing socialists at the same time) has been his mission since he lied his way to the Labour leadership.

Most Zionists in the world are Christian Zionists not Jewish - and historically these Biblical fundamentalists have often been raving anti semites themselves. One of the main reasons for non-Jewish support of Zionism from the start of the last century was to get Jewish people out of Western European and American cities and into a national homeland somewhere else. Palestine would do!

But there are many Jewish minorities (socialists, some religious Jews, a growing number of young US Jews) who reject Zionism. It used to be a minority ideology, then became dominant, and is now increasingly challenged. But not by the Labour leadership or party machine.

The current Israeli government isn't facist. There are some serious b*stards in there mind so I can't judge those comments particularly harshly.

Some of the new Israeli mk's are vile and deserve to be called out. There were tens of thousands of moderate Israelis out on the streets of Tel Aviv protesting against Bibi's corrupt and nasty coalition. They will have called Bibi and his cronies a lot worse than Kim Johnson did and quite rightly so !!!
