Thread: Great debuts

    Great debuts

As we count down to Sory Kaba firing us to glory at Hull, what goal scoring debutants do you remember?

    For me:

Ritchie Humphies at the double v Colchester 1999

Dion Burton’s brilliant brace v Torquay

The great Leo Fortune-West with his backside v Halifax

And, of course, Uche at Barnsley a year ago today

Steven Thompson scored a couple v Burnley on his debut. I think?

He did. Was in line with the second at the Grange End.

Ralls scored on his 'league' debut at Hull from what I can remember.

I also remember Parkin scoring an absolute screamer at Carrow Road on his debut .

Alan Warboys got a brace on debut and Robin Friday tore Fulham, including Bobby Moore, apart with a couple. Alas it was not to last.

I remember them both. Here's another one for the oldies - Johnny Vincent against the club that transferred him(Middlesbrough).

Yes. It was a complete fluke that bounced in front of Kevin Keelan and went in off his shoulder. If he hadn't touched it, it wouldn't have counted because it was an indirect fk.

It has to be Neil O'Halloran who scored a hat trick against Charlton on his debut in 1955 and hardly played again.
He subsequently played for Barry and ended up owning them when they played in Europe.

He was a class apart from anything on the pitch that day. His first touch was fantastic and his movement was sublime. He made the game look easy.
My thoughts after the game were how could WBA NOT see him in their plans?

He looked brilliant when he first came in. Did a mean ayatollah with snow too.

His last job was as Sporting Director at Grasshoppers. According to Wiki he resigned in June - so is available if Vincent gives him a call!
