Wigan Athletic: finished 18th in the Championship in 2018/19. Relegated in 2019/20 after the season had finished, having been 13th in the table before a 12-points deduction was imposed for entering administration.

Sheffield Wednesday: finished 12th in the Championship in 2018/19. Finished 16th in the Championship in 2019/20. Finished 24th in the Championship in 2020/21, having been docked 6 points under FFP rules (initially, it was 12 points, reduced on appeal). Bear in mind City have also been placed under an embargo at least once (and maybe twice) in recent years due to accounts discrepancies, but those embargoes have been lifted before the transfer windows have opened.
