tbf James you do, probably happily, bring some of this on yourself. You can't complain about people seeing things purely in black and white and then talk about CCMB Politburos or socialist jerk circles without the whiff of hypocrisy.

My left leaning politics is different to Jon and Dorcus's. Most of the people I mix with are likely to be Tories. They are overwhelmingly decent people not scum like Sludge suggests. My partner went to watch the Coronation, as she did in the Queen's funeral knowing that I had little interest in either. My kids vote progressively.

You can put anyone in a pigeonhole when you could be in a similar one yourself, I guess!

The best threads are when desperate attention seekers become more and more desperate! Well done. James!

Yes it's mainly, but not always, jovial enough. I do think debates rarely get going due to partisan party politics though and that's a real shame

It was more giving you kudos for making LoM post his attention seeking drivel twice, than a dig at you!

    Angela Raynor calls them scum

I just have nothing to do with Tories in my day to day life as they think completely differently to me and my social circle

I’ve known plenty of good, kind Conservatives in my time, still do. However, I do find it very hard to understand how anyone can continue to give their wholehearted support to the Government we’ve had since 2019. Actually, I think a lot of the party’s “blue wall” problems are down to traditional Tory voters not recognising the current lot as what they consider to be true Conservatism and they’ll return to the fold if and when their party shows signs that they’ve recovered their marbles.

Looking back to Adam Price...I am surprised how it has all ended. No real comment on the bullying issue, as don't know the full story, but one assumes it was considered a serious issue.

When he was appointed I thought he would be a great leader, esp coming at at time when Labour were struggling, Tories were the party of government etc. I always found him quite an approachable, engaging character. Economically sensible and a good leader, unlike Leanne Wood who I thought was useless.

Incredibly Plaid did worse in 2019 than in 2017, with their vote going down to less than 10%.. They've lost a third of their vote pretty consistently dropping since 2001, all this in the time that the SNP demonstrate they can run Scotland.

Not sure where Plaid go from here. I imagine they need to press for Independence more. That makes me far less likely to vote for them, but it is their raison d'etre and would help them stand out

I thought Leanne Wood was far better looking though!

Interesting program on radio4 today about completely feckless and useless the Harold Wilson Govt, how much the country was controlled by trade unions and how there was an attempted coup. Some interesting words from Tony Benn in there as well

Marginal but I'll give you that. She is no Esther McVey or Liz Kendall though.

I agree about Liz but Leanne is far better than that withered hag McVey. I never thought Leanne was anything special but for a while I did have the rampant hots for her. People tell me I have strange taste though!

For the Tory and former Tory contribution Penny Mordaunt and Heidi Allen are at the top of any tree.

I have to say you're quite vocal about what you don't like etc, but what do you and your social circle want from [presumably] a non-Tory government ? Oh, and please don't say 'a fairer society'.

Leanne Wood - very down to earth - and definitely had 'it' , she was ousted for a couple of reasons - she was a woman (an actual real one) , she wasnt part of the Gog tafia, i dont believe she spoke much welsh. Unfortunately she was undermined by her male counterparts.

Penny Mordaunt - defintelty lady of the manor type and drinks pints for the boys - and also has 'it'

Liz kendal - same. Angie Rayner - nah - not on any level. Esther McVey was she the blonde one that got done for anti semitic type behaviour ?

The curve ball here - would be kemi badenoch

I think I'd prefer Suella Braverman to Badenoch! I'd put her on the same level as Diane Abbott
