I'm not a fan of the fussy scrolls and fiddly details on the 'traditional' badge. But 1 fills the space better than the newer version.
The St Davids cross and bluebird is cleaner. I like it still.
The beermat is obviously the worst by a distance.
I quite like the St David’s Cross one.
Had it tattooed years ago.
3,1 then at a very hard push 2 then 4 although the later version of 2 where they removed Cardiff City would have been bottom

1, 3, 2, 4. Although, I could even do without the banners and the footballs on 1. I was never a fan of the St David's cross badge, but as you say, it is obviously better than the beermat.

1, 3, 2, 4 for me too. Never really felt much of a connection with the St. David’s Cross.
Would be nice to see a modern upgrade on that classic in the same vein as these recent efforts from man utd and roma. Just a minimal isolated bluebird. Not permanently but for a one off kit it could be interesting.

The cross was Sam's idea that we were "the club of Wales", and everyone in Wales should support us, including Jacks, Newport, etc.

Did not realise that we have had the club badge on the right side of the kit looking at the mid 70's it appeared to switch from the left to the right and then back again.

That's the general style of badge that has represented CCFC since football became a sort of brand
The beermat and Sam hammams prominent bluebird were both dreadful
It's no surprise most people who have tatoos of the city badge have one of the class 1983 onwards artfully drawn bluebird
I have never seen a tattoo on a city fan of the old school bluebird that looks like it's been shot down and is in its death throws

But less simple, less classic, more dated, and less messing about than the badge that you think is "simple, classic and no messing about." and "dated and the bird looks daft" Have you ever seen a bluebird? They don't look like swallows.
It looks like a 4 year old child has scrawled it
You go around the country in the modern design bluebird or swallow or whatever and fellow football fans know exactly what it is and who you support
It's like The Owl , Wolf , Seagull, Ram , Forest
The old one is lame and scruffy
We wouldn't sell a lot of those
Most of the people who remember that old bluebird badge are dead
We had that badge until the mid '80s.
They’re all ok, even 4. The worst thing for me was the crest inside a crest. Stupid.
But they’re all dated to me and need to move on. Appreciate the traditionalists view that it shouldn’t be changed for change sake but it is something that clubs struggle with. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wrexham are looking at similar.
Id like to see something a little bit more minimalistic. But that’s me
