You don’t have to have a target man but we need someone who can hold onto the ball with their back to goal from time to time.
    Totally agree.
As much as Kaba was brilliant for us, I don’t think he’s particularly what we need going forward.

It's no surprise to learn that Haaland can hold the ball up - easier to try and talk about what he can't do.

Giving players the ball with their backs to the ball is a sign of poor movement, something we've been guilty of for quite some time.

I swear that a big part of our fan base still yearns for a Leo Fortune-West type player.

Re: Squad - as it stands

GK - both reasonable but arguably we've got 2 back up quality keepers.
CB - 2 decent centre halves in Goutas and McGuinness
RB - Ng Romeo with Campbell as unconvincing back up
Maybe bring in someone who can cover RB and CB - Wes Harding is available

MC - overstocked unless we offload one or two no point bringing anyone in. I think we're okay there barring an injury crisis.
Forwards - until we know how we're going to play it's hard to say what we'll need, almost all of our forwards with the exception of Etete can play anywhere across the front three. The one thing we're probably missing is what Kaba gave us, an Etete alternative. Not necessarily a target man but a 'striker' rather than a jack of all trades.

27 professionals then, with maybe 3 or 4 more to come in. At least 4 to go out on loan / sell then.

    Update please.

15 players out of contract at the end of this season is an interesting challenge.

Ejuke plus a centre back? I’m also in the camp that we need a new keeper.

So what’s our starting 11 now?

I think it will be more than 4, currently we are overloaded with CM players, although no one knows if King and Adam’s can step up to Championship level? There has to be doubts about Sawyer’s and Rinomhota

We have Watters and Ojo who for whatever reasons are just not up to the job

Simpson and both the keepers are surplus to requirements at the back

Now Bulut might see something different in them and get far more from them than anyone else can, but it’s a big ask

In our new set up, is Davies a striker or a winger?
Maybe he could benefit from a short loan spell?

As it stands I’d like to see another out and out striker added, Kaba?
Another winger, a centre half and a GK

It looks like we have a style that we’re going to start with, but I’m sure that will be flexible with 9 subs on the bench

It’s definitely a more exciting time to be a City fan, than the last few seasons, roll on August

do I put Ramsey down as one of the 2 central midfielder, or the attacking midfielder?

If that's a relegation team then something is seriously wrong.

Re: Squad - as it stands

As it stands id have this as our best starting line up.

Alnwick (we badly need a new keeper)
    Ng
    McGuinness
Goutas (really need him to be good or we have a big proble)
    Collins
    Ralls
    Wintle
    Ramsey
    O Dowda
    Grant
    Robinson

Maybe Ramsey as a CM and Colwill as the AM.

Hopefully a couple of young PL loans to come in particularly at CB GK we could have a decent season.

    I would go

    Allsop

    Ng McGuiness Goutas Collins

    Ramsey Ralls

RW (hopefully we sign one) Robinson O'Dowda

    Grant

think Robinson's best position is behind a striker like Grant . Possibly meite in for O'Dowda but not had a preseason yet

I’d go along with that apart from the Keeper
Alnwick will be back to the SPL 2 and Allsop just isn’t a Championship player

I would imagine a few more twists and turns will happen until the start of the season, and a couple more surprises in terms of players coming and going

With Rambo back it certainly strengthens our chances in the loan market for a couple of youngsters in Premiership squads.

    All good positive things

I don't think we are a relegation team now but how much do we all think we have improved?

    Lamouchi - Bulut
    Philogene - Ramsey
    Kaba - Grant
    Kipre - Goutas

We've lost an experienced Championship Manager and possibly our three best players by the end of the season.

Positives we'll also have Collins, Meite, Ugbo, Adams.

We definitely need a Keeper and right back and probably a left back.

think Alnwick, Simpson, Sawyers, Watters and Ojo can all go from that list (easier said than done of course.

Then looking for good loans for Luthra, Bagan, Campbell, Evans, Tanner, Davies King and maybe even Etete if we bring in another Striker.

I’d add Colwill to the loan list, he needs a big season somewhere.

Any midfield two with Ralls and Ramsey in is going to get absolutely overrun IMO. If Ramsey plays deep it will have to be in a 3 with Ralls and one of Wintle, Rino or Adams surely.

sounds like he's going to be sharing the 10 role with Ramsey, Ramsey isn't going to play every minute of every game so he will get his chances

Very difficult to speculate on our best line-up because I'm pretty sure the current squad will bear little resemblance to the players available for selection going into the Leeds game. A major clear out seems imminent which will allow Bulut to continue his rebuild. Give it about a month and we will all have a better idea of where we're at.

Agreed and he'll need to try and build one team around Ramsey maybe with extra runners and one for when he's not playing, he's not going to be able to swap Colwill for Ramsey.

Sell Bagan or loan and a backup left back needed, we struggled all last year and had to waste O'Dowda there.

NG might still be needed in the centre too, we don't know how good Goutas is and McGuiness makes some big mistakes, so a centre half or right back needed too.

I like McGuiness in many ways but his man marking is atrocious.
