Scunthorpe V Buxton Torrential Rain - Abandoned

Just reading through the football pages on BBC and noticed that the Scunthorpe V Buxton game was abandoned due to torrential rain in stoppage time with Buxton Leading 2-1. Surely this result has to stand!

I was always under in impression that the law concerning abandonment was that the result stands after 70 minutes, although i suppose it depends why the game was abandoned in the first place.

It could be different as it is National League maybe? I thought it would be clear cut, as reading the article I think both sides thought the ref blew for the end of the game.

Reply Is the fairest thing as Scunthorpe looked like they could muster a 3 -2 win . It is after all a 90 plus minute game and The Irons are well known for their abilities in wet conditions.

That's the maddest decision I've ever seen, fair play. Puts our debacle against Rotherham last year in focus, can you imagine how fuming you'd be if that was us. Especially as the game was delayed by the behavior of the Scunthorpe fans who now benefit from the decision, unbelievable precedent to set.

It does seem bizarre but if your team was not even aware it was off until you got off the field, with 5 minutes left, you’d be equally aggrieved as the side in front.
