Was the transport club down there? My grampy, who used to drive buses, used to take me there to play snooker on the full size tables upstairs. I had to stand on a crate just to reach the table.

The old transport club was in Millicent Street.

The Bute Dock closed its doors a number of years ago now, maybe ten? and is now a barbers / hairdressers i think.

The only "older" pubs left are the Packet and Eli Jenkins plus the old ship and pilot which I believe is more of a nightclub.

The "local" is a thing of the past, it's all about cram 'em in, make what you can and get 'em out.

The Comrades was in Paradise Place, off Queen Street, just behind The Taff Vale, which was on the corner of Queen Street & Paradise Place.

Depends how far back you want to go.

I know what you mean poc but even though it's situated in the Bay I wouldn't package it with the Mermaid Quay pubs as it is a building that has been there for dinkeys years.

Yes the Comrades was in Paradise place sorry, the nearest I can think of near the Lifeboat was the ex-servicemens club in Frederick Street which later went to Penarth road I think.
