Major Cardiff City and Wales injury worry as Aaron Ramsey in race against time for crunch Croatia game
Manager Erol Bulut has revealed the player suffered an injury on a knee he has previously had surgery on and is touch and go for the game against Croatia.

Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out of Cardiff City's next three games and is a major doubt for Wales' crunch Euro 2024 qualifier against Croatia after picking up an injury in his knee.

"With Aaron Ramsey, two days ago, in training, he got an injury," Bulut said. "I have the report from our medical department that he will not be available to us for three weeks. Something with his tendon in his knee, the same knee he had an operation many years ago. Whether it’s a rupture or not, there will be a final check to see what the situation is.

"I hope we can have him back after the international break. But we are waiting for news on that.

"It was a turn or a change of direction to make a run. He was feeling pain behind his knee. They scanned and we are still waiting. It might be a rupture of a tendon. His right knee. I hope it’s not an operation, we have to avoid an operation and we will try to get it healed without an operation."

Clearly it's a massive loss for Cardiff, with Ramsey having started life back in the Welsh capital so brilliantly with three goals in his six appearances to date, and potentially Wales, with their huge match at Cardiff City Stadium against Croatia just over two weeks away.

Rob Page's side, realistically, need to get at least a point from that match and it is conceivable that the Wales boss could be without his captain for the clash with the Croats. However, when asked, Bulut was unsure whether the injury would definitely keep him out of the international matches for Wales as he awaits results.

Wales kept their faint hopes of automatic qualification alive when a Ramsey penalty downed Latvia in the September international break, but Page's side still sitting in fourth, level on points with Armenia but three behind Croatia and Turkey. They still have to play all three before the qualification campaign is over. However, they do have a play-off route to Germany next year if they don't finish in the top two of Group D.

Either way, Bluebirds boss Bulut knows Ramsey won't be available for the games against Rotherham, Middlesbrough and Watford before that international break commences. But the City manager said it presents an opportunity for others to take.

The Bluebirds playmaker, 32, has missed the last three Cardiff matches, including the loss to Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night, with an injury, but it was hoped he would be back for the game against Rotherham United this weekend. However, manager Erol Bulut has revealed the Wales captain suffered an injury on the training ground on Monday and the club are nervously awaiting scans, hoping an operation won't be required.

I couldn't care less if he doesn't play for Wales against Croatia

If he needs a spell on the sidelines or even an operation so be it

If we have to wait then Wales will have to wait even longer

100% sod Wales, he shouldn't have played in that friendly, it was probably the start of this, three games in 8 days including a Wales qualifier and Cardiff Swansea.

It's entirely his decision but I hope his experience leads him to putting his feet up , quite literally!

Anyone else like to see club and country doing well? I don’t get this stuff Wales attitude.

Big blow to lose Ramsey for at least three weeks, but he was never going to play a full season for us was he, if he plays thirty times for us in the league, I’d say we wouldn’t have too many grounds for complaint.

Absolutely, but the concern is that this has the makings of a long lay-off.

When we signed him I thought we would get half the games from him, plus his expertise and guidance off the pitch, as well as giving confidence to others that we are a club worth signing for. I would certainly take 30+ games from him this season.

A 3 week lay off definitely doesn't warrant a post on instagram stating specialist advice is being sought after, he's going to be out for at least 3 months, I'm certain of it.

What if the specialist’s advice is that it’s not serious?

The fan base are losing the plot. First they rejoice we got stuffed in the cup so we can carry in a mediocre league season and then they don’t care if he misses Wales games. Don’t forget he picked this up in training. This ‘resting’ from matches business is pathetic when they can be injured for weeks from getting out of bed.

I'm pretty sure I once read that Alan Hansen barely trained in the latter part of his career. How physical are training sessions? Do they tackle?

Good news is we can beat good opposition without him, Robbo in with the other two injured back soon and I'm sure we'll continue as we have been. Fingers crossed I'm very wrong and he's back for the Wurzels game.

The time it takes different people to return to activities varies greatly after a ruptured tendon. Younger, athletic people may be able to properly heal and complete rehab in five to eight months, but older people or people with a history of knee injuries may need up to a maximum of 18 months of rehab

This thread has gone from 3 weeks to 18 months is less than 2 pages. It's got to be a record even for all the negative thinkers on here.

Cutting and pasting a google look-up really does make people look pretty dumb
