Seems like a really positive and forward thinking move from the club, we’ve been moaning about how few promising young players make the transition to the first team for years. What on earth is going on.

This seems like an excellent move. Well done all involved at City and VT for funding it.

A positive step but the problem is that any promising players are poached by the bigger clubs. However that is the system but unless that changes we have to do the best we can and the club are doing that.

Thing is it’s a bit of a circular argument… yes the obvious gems have been poached recently but equally the lack of a perceived path to the first team is definitely part of that… Brum were able to hang onto Bellingham long enough to make a big chunk of money and Bristol City did the same with Alex Scott. But both were signed young and around the first team as soon as able and you imagine the clubs had a plan for them early on, and Brum are now doing exactly the same thing with Jobe and Jordan James as well.

If you clearly lay out the steps to playing regularly and then moving to a bigger club and you can show others who have done it you’ve at least got a chance of persuading them to stay. Who was the last academy graduate we have who has actually made a career at the top level?

Brum sold Jobe in the summer to Sunderland

Because all the decent ones are stolen by the big clubs. This won't change a thing.
