Yes, I agree. I remember him as someone with no great strengths to his game, t more importantly, there weren't any real weakness either - he was a good, solid seven or eight out of ten every week and I would have thought he was someone who would have coped with First Division football if we'd been promoted in 1971.

My thoughts exactly. When we had our previous batch of under-achievers we were crying out for someone of Peter King's consistency and unfailing quality. To a lesser degree, Don Cowie gave us a regular 7/10 performance without King's smattering of brilliance. These players are still out there but we haven't acquired one for quite a while, the frequently-injured Rambo excluded.

In a word 'Yes.' I was in the Grange End that day and you had to be there to experience the reaction to King's goal. Mind you, Bobby Woodruff also scored a thunderbolt that game, too.

Dave Bennett's to put us 3-1 up against Leicester. Picked up a nice little pass from Kitchen ( I think it was) on the halfway line when we were under big pressure, ran half the length of the pitch, banged it in, then clambered up the fence at the Canton End celebrating. (That's how I remember it anyway )

I was just going to mention it people tend to forget goals from our opponents can’t think of any others that stick in the mind like that one.

Ched Evans scored a goal for Norwich that was applauded by City fans. It was a thunderbolt from a long way out at the Canton end

I was standing on the Bob Bank that day in line with Peter King's volley. I always think of it as the best City goal I have ever seen.

Peter King always seemed to be a very unassuming character, a very good player. Only 5 players in our history have played more games in total for us. He is a City Legend, an attribution given these days by fans to far too many undeserving players. I stand to be corrected but I can't recall any pictures of Peter King in concourses or in the various levels in the main stand. If this is the case then it needs to corrected.

I lived in Broad street as a lad and Peter King lived across the road. My father kept reminding me that he was a professional footballer and played for Cardiff. Such a down to earth everyday bloke. Unassuming and always had time for a quick word as he walked to the ground or Jubilee Park for training

Exactly as I remember it. That goal has always stood out for me. I think this might be the first time I've since since being at the game. I was sitting in the grandstand. I just remember it being a rocket straight into the back of the net. No dip, no curl, no swerve.
