MVG out!!!
Beaten 5-3 by Scott Williams.
Surely this is the first world championship (other than the first three) where two of the semi finalists weren't involved in the tournament 2 years before?
Williams is in the top 32 and would reach no.6 if he wins it. Luke Littler will be in the top 32 if he makes the final and 9th if he wins it. Not bad, considering his earnings during the last year are £2,500. Cross can't get into the top 3 even if he wins the tournament. Humphries will be world no.1 if he wins his semi.
Maybe Wayne Mardle came out with the best line of commentary so far, when Chizzy hit a single 1, Mardle shreiked out "wow, look at that snatch".
Littler's finishing the difference as he leads 3-1. Don't think this is over at all. Cross with the higher average.
Also, can Sky get rid of Rod Studd? Biased, boring bastard who offers no excitement.
Littler smashed him to bits
Barely a contest in the end
Williams isn't making much headway here .
Humphries looks immense.....
Was going to post something earlier but I couldn't tear myself away from the TV.
Two brilliant performances from Littler and Humphries.
I thought Littler's performance was staggering for a first World semi but then Cool Hand does that!
Cross didn't play badly at all in fairness to him, better than Williams played I'd say, but neither stood a chance with the intensity both Lukes showed.
What a final in prospect tomorrow.
It's a difficult one to call as they are both young, talented, play a quick tempo and have bottle.
Cross missed a few doubles at a time when Littler didn't. No real issue in that, Littler did the same when Cross brought it back to 3-2 and suggested levelling for a short while. Every time Cross threatened, Littler found something.
Humphries totally outclassed Williams in the end, though it was his ton-plus finishes that gave him such an edge early on.
I'm going for 7-3 Humphries tomorrow. If Littler wins, he'll either have to average around 110 in a world final or Humphries will have to drop 10 points on his average. I think Humphries is the more lethal finisher and if he asserts that early doors, it'll be a long final for the other Luke.
But what the hell do I know? I'm guessing. It's on the day. What's the odds on them struggling and averaging in the late 80s?
Humphries was super impressive and if he plays like that, he wins.
I guess it's who sleeps well and who copes with the obvious pressure that will come with almost being world champion.
The Littler story is really something and I wanted him to beat Barney and Cross but there is something that makes me think if he wins it tomorrow, it might not be a good thing.
Remember Keith Deller won it from nowhere and was never the same after that, the fame he couldn't handle.
Littler will get other chances I'm sure.
As with all sports you have to want somebody to win and I think I am gonna go with Cool Hand.
Not only is he a likeable chap, he isn't built like a darter!
An aside regarding Rob Cross. Dave Clark, former darts presenter, has said that, after Cross won his World Title, he gave him his shirt and darts from the final, framed, to use for charity. Clark has been suffering with Parkinson's for a number of years, Cross realised this, so donated his final shirt and darts for Clark's charity.
