European breakaway Super League back on?

Eufa & FIFA found to have acted illegally in banning clubs from forming their own league.
With the Saudi money now pouring in what odds a massive change to the structure of the game?

I think the ordinary supporter has already shown what they think of a European Super League, but we live in a world where money is concentrated among a tiny proposition of the population and, increasingly, if they set their mind on something, they get it.

Plastic Liverpool and MunU supporters would love talking about their games against Barca and Inta on the telly!

Let's hope they can stop it, this would ruin football!

Saudi money was behind the last attempt, and they haven't spent a fortune on football so far to give up at the first attempt, this will be back with a vengeance and they will want the Saudi clubs involved as well.
there needs to be coordinated fan led Europe wide resistance to this

I'm quite interested to know why some people write eufa instead of uefa.

As a fully paid-up member of the Game's Gone Brigade, this doesn't ruffle a whole bunch of feathers. The Champions League is already a nonsense and will soon be an even greater one. A new expanded Club World Cup is on the horizon too. It feels like it was always going to go this way and clubs have shown they're open to a gentle nudge away from traditional formats/warehouse full of cash. If they guarantee a pathway from domestic leagues it'll happen. Then, eventually the midweek league will be more lucrative than the domestic and they'll hop over full-time when they see fit.

I imagine there are fans of big teams who won't like it because they could become the Everton of the new league, and not the glamorous juggernaut their fans expect.

I agree but unfortunately fans in Britain aren't known to collectivise.

Revamped European Super League format - how would new competition work?

The proposal from A22 says the new competition would include the continent's top clubs in men's and women's football.

In the men's competition, the top tiers - the Star League and the Gold League - would each consist of 16 teams while the Blue League, the bottom tier, would consist of 32 clubs with promotion and relegation between each tier.

The teams that finish in the top eight of each league go into the knockout stages, with quarter-finals and semi-finals played over two legs and the finals held at neutral venues.

The bottom 20 teams in the Blue league would be relegated from the competition entirely and replaced by the top-performing clubs from European domestic leagues.

The two teams that make the final of the Gold and Blue leagues would be promoted up a tier, while the two teams that finish bottom of the Star and Gold leagues would be relegated down a tier.

Matches would be played in midweek, allowing the new competition to be run in tandem with European domestic leagues.

The proposed women's competition would be run on a similar model.

So even more games then if it takes of, Pep aint going to be happy

That's an improved version of the original proposal, atleast it has promotion and relegation, so not a closed shop. Still would much prefer the current system.

Two different squads maybe, European and Domestic? So more players to move to fewer clubs and ffp scrapped or hugely increased.

under these new proposals, someone like Leicester winning the premier League would only qualify them for the third tier of European competition, while a man city or Chelsea could finish mid table in the premier League but stay in the top tier of European competition
