I used to play on pitches like that in Llanedeyrn High school, but the ball would only travel 3 inches when played along the ground.

Look at how the West Ham players were able to keep the ball on the deck, so kudos to the groundsmen who managed to turn the Somme into a bowling green in those pre-underground water drainage, underground heating days.
