Woking Council £2bn in debt. Funded hotels that were never built, skyscrapers that are empty, etc., etc. It's so easy to spend other peoples' money..

UK votes for austerity, UK gets austerity.

This results in higher council tax for worse services.

Got to love the impartial reporting by the Guardian "In both deprived and affluent parts of the country, the millions being cut from local services echo the fiscal savagery of George Osborne’s austerity"

Alistair Darling and Osbourne had roughly the same approach post the crash of 2008 (as Darling himself said). What would Labour's approach now be to councils going bust ? the same or would they flip flop and spend more money on Councils that spent 100's of thousands of tax payers money on taxies (Birmingham council)
