Just shows the utter absurdity of modern football finances - Steve Gibson writing off £148m of debt, and stumped up a further £90m to buy shares. That's practically a quarter of a billion pounds !!

It does indeed, and how long is it before a championship club is liquidated?

Wage should not exceed turnover at all and nearly all clubs are still doing business this way.

    On This Day in 1961:

The maximum wage was abolished in English football. The most a footballer could be paid was £20 a week.

Johnny Haynes, to become the first £100 a week footballer in England.

    How times have changed !

Preston, generally reckoned to be quite a sensibly run club, have lost £29 million in the last two years

The May 2022 accounts haven`t yet been published but i suspect our losses were higher over the same period.

Colin didn`t last very long there. With his football knowledge I suspect Steve Gibson challenged some of his activities in greater depth and far quicker than CCFC did.
