I din't realise it was that old. Music from 1794, words from 1830.

"National Anthem of the Ancient Britons", also known as "Woad" or "The Woad Ode", is a humorous song, set to the tune of "Men of Harlech". It first became popular in the 1920s as a song in the British Boy Scouts.

What's the good of wearing braces,
Vests and pants and boots with laces,
Spats or hats you buy in places
    Down in Brompton Road?
What's the use of shirts of cotton,
    Studs that always get forgotten?
    These affairs are simply rotten:
    Better far is woad.
Woad's the stuff to show, men.
    Woad to scare your foemen:
Boil it to a brilliant hue
And rub it on your back and your abdomen.
Ancient Briton ne'er did hit on
Anything as good as woad to fit on
Neck, or knees, or where you sit on.
    Tailors, you be blowed.

    Romans came across the Channel
All wrapped up in tin and flannel:
Half a pint of woad per man'll
    Dress us more than these.
Saxons, you can waste your stitches
Building beds for bugs in britches:
We have woad to clothe us, which is
    Not a nest for fleas.
    Romans keep your armours;
    Saxons your pyjamas:
Hairy coats were meant for goats,
Gorillas, yaks, retriever dogs and llamas.
Tramp up Snowdon with our woad on:
Never mind if we get rained or blowed on.
Never want a button sewed on.
    Go it, Ancient Bs.

    I quite like that version.

My take on things is that the average farm labourer, tanner or blacksmith throughout the ages probably cared not one jot for any particular regent at the time (and had sod all in common with him) when he was eking out a living - and any change of regime sweeping through the land would simply mean him paying his tithes elsewhere.
Lines on maps are drawn up from above and the populace in coutries all around the world is taught about famous battles (both won or herocically lost) and which took place in a specific time-frame and that suited a purpose. It's all a tad illusory and selective for me.
What a nonesense post and to refer to the British as mongrels shows how you've been brainwashed into accepting mass immigration because we're already, in your words "mongrels"
We're not mongrels and you wouldn't dare refer to any other race as mongrels would you?

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, well it is if you are trying to maintain a stable of multiple accounts it seems!
You're paranoid, Gramsci isn't a niche topic, plenty of people now know about him

I hope he seeks the help that he desperately needs.

What ‘race’ do you think we (the British) are?

The attempted wind-up is hardly worth responding to.

I was trying not to bite. Settled for a nibble. But that was too much Slither encouragement. An error of judgement!
