The earliest records of Eclipse to Key Event (like in Nineveh around 2,700 years ago) asked those who were aware of the warning to repent and turn to God. Of course most english speaking people somehow think repent means to feel regret or sorrow. This is down to a poor translation into the English via Latin many years ago.
In fact it means a complete transformation of thought, attitude and lifestyle, in a life that puts God first, instead of myself.
It also means that once a person has genuinely done this, then God will know them and He will count them as His own.
In turn this then means that whatever the coming disaster/ event may be, that person is right with God and their eternity is secure.

I'll give you a local example:-

In 1900, nobody knew that the bloodiest war in history was less than 15 years away with over 20 million perishing, and 21 million injured - but God did know.

God raised up a guy called Evan Roberts who had been down the mines in Loughor since the age of 12, to help support his family. The church had held lots of tent missions with a view of hitting the ground running as the new century began. Those special meetings had some success but nothing to get excited about.
Then as 1904 came, Evan Roberts began sharing a new direct message from God which challenged people to take God and life & death seriously, they needed to change their ways, ie it was a call to repent.
In 1904 in Wales, 100,000 people joined the churches in just 3 months! This spiritual revival, although it started in Wales, spread throughout England, Scotland and Ireland before arriving in America in 1906, with similar dramatic results.
Looking back, people saw it as God reaping millions into His Kingdom before many millions stepped into eternity during the terrible war that was WW1.
How did God repay Evan for all his unstinting efforts? He/she/it was a bit of a bastard if he exhausted him and made him so mentally unstable that he had a breakdown, moved to England to convalesce and became a recluse for the rest of his life. Don't you think?
