If so, put some money on it. Bookies will happily accept it.

If not, what is based on?
A bit like the guy who sells his house and puts all his money on the end of the world you mean?
I think there may be a slight flaw in that limited material outlook on life.

On your first point, you are actually the first person to ask the correct questions:-

    1. Is there an evidence that Solar eclipses have been married to noteable events on earth? (or to put it another way....)
    2. Is there a correlation between unusual solar eclipses and big changes to the country or area that is touched by the path of darkness?

It just caught the edge of England, hardly comparable with a coast to coast event?
Also the fact that we all remember 1999 as THE key UK Eclipse of our lifetime shows how rare they can be.

Correct, it passed over Turkey on 11th August, then less than 1 week later this happened:-

    17th Auhust 1999
A 7.4-magnitude 1999 İzmit earthquake named earthquake strikes İzmit, Turkey, killing more than 17,000 and injuring 44,000.

A crow landed on my mothers roof and she died a week later.
Any thing can be linked to any time scale to suit.

Any other examples to make this statistically significant?

Well let's see how this example stacks up against the figures in Europe per year throughout the 20th Century.

We discover HERE that in the 20th century, earthquakes accounted for more than 200,000 deaths and over 250 billion Euros in direct and indirect losses in Europe (EM-DAT).

That means an average of 2000 deaths each year between 1900AD and 2000AD throughout the whole of Europe.

So 17,000 deaths just 6 days after the Total Eclipse is certainly significant.

Thanks, I pride myself on asking the best questions.

You don't have to sell your house. A couple of hundred quid on an earthquake should get a good return.
