Thread: Kortrijk

    Kortrijk

    Davies scores again.

Tsunoda off injured, described by the club's twitter account as "Tsunoda lays down without contact and has to be replaced. That doesn't look good."

Away to Anderlecht, who are second. He must have got past Vertonghen and beaten Schmeichel, fair play. Good win if they can hold on.

    Edit. They have, 1-0 win.

    Re: Kortrijk

Would love Davies to come back and do well, this is why I said Colwill should have gone on loan first half of the season.

I don’t see why Davies couldn’t fill the Grant role or at least be an option wide.

    Yeah, good result for them.

I'd also like to see him back with us next season.

    He's better than Grant

    Re: Kortrijk

Not sure he's better than Grant, but a similar style player - quick, direct and can finish at a decent rate. He's miles better than Tanner and not sure he can be less effective than Bowler.

Unless we spend some serious money he'll have a role to play next year, always thought it was strange when he got loaned out. Arguably the best performance I've seen from a City player in a while was him in the FA Cup tie vs Leeds, his pace gave them kittens.

I’m not sure on that, he’s playing in a lower team in the Belgium League but hopefully he comes back a better player and can push his way up.

Couple of years ago I thought he was the next best thing, ahead of Colwill. Now I’m not so sure. I’m glad he got his loan though, wish Colwill had earlier this season.

This has the Belgian league above The Championship

Although last season with a different website ranks championship higher https://www.globalfootballrankings.com

the quality can't be as bad as some on here are saying. On the second website you can directly compare both leagues an it ranks the teams from both leagues.

Great to see him doing well. 8 in 26 is decent for a terrible side. Can’t wait for us to be lumping the ball in his general direction next season

Tanner is non league level. He'll get 5 years with various professional clubs due to the goal he scored against Swansea, that's how shit football is, and club owners, coaches at plenty of clubs are blagging it. As fans we give them all way too much credit. Good luck to Tanner though, i hope the club bumped his money right up with his new contract. Rinse it while you can lad.

    Re: Kortrijk

Sadly agree on Tanner, he’s got some decent physical attributes but in terms of footballing sense it’s just not there. Thanks for the memory, but I’ll be very surprised if he’s ever a regular even at league 2 level.

    Re: Kortrijk

Tanner should do ok bouncing around clubs like Crawley, Sutton, Colchester etc but he’s never a championship player.

Don’t even think we can mould him into one either. He hasn’t got a football brains and has a serious lack of awareness around him. Too late at his age to be teaching that. Giving away silly free kicks and losing the ball on at least 4 occasion’s yesterday tells me he’s never making the grade at Championship level.

    Re: Kortrijk

A surprise occurred in the Belgian League, the Belgian giant club, Anderlecht, which is currently in 2nd place in the standings, lost to KV Kortrijk who are struggling in the relegation zone.

I've just looked at his stats this season, as you say, they are pretty impressive in a struggling team. His shot accuracy, goals Vs expected goals are in the high 90s percentile across all players in that league.

It goes back to Pre-Season. Isaak did not show his ability. Tanner did. EB had to make a choice and it is proving correct from a CCFC perspective. His worth will have increased substantially. he will now have a pre season to show he is up for it and there is no need for another second rate loan wideman like Bowler.

That's a good point to be fair about pre-season. Tanner did outshine Davies in the matches I went to see. I thought Tanner was going to be a hell of a find but he's another one that hasn't kicked on after 'the' wonder goal. Have to say that's another one I got wrong. I think it's more hope and wishful thinking at the start of the season that got me again. Jeez. The last few years have knocked the stuffing out of me as a fan tbh.

That's a really interesting link. I follow the Greek SL and I'm not surprised it's as high as it is. The Championship seems to be getting worse IMO but yeah, it's a surprise to see it rated so low nevertheless.

Really not sure. If he is worth that we should definitely keep him - it's the only way we're going to get a player worth that other than Ramsey.
