There were ten matches played in the Championship this weekend. None of them ended up with both teams scoring. That’s probably happened before at some stage, but it’s very unusual.

Some of us believed the division was the worst it’s ever been in terms of quality last season.
This season, four decent teams are engaged in an exciting battle for automatic promotion to the Premier League. None of them were in the Championship in 2022/23.
Meanwhile, the three teams who were promoted from this division last season all look destined to get relegated unless there are points deductions for other clubs. If that does happen, it will be only the second time in Premier League history that all three promoted teams have gone straight back down. The previous occasion was back in 1997/98.
Let’s be honest, the Championship was genuinely terrible last season.

Aside from the 4 mentioned sides at the top the rest are not much to shout about this season either. As Championship sides cut their cloth accordingly post covid I think the gap between Championship and Premier League just gets wider. The fact we were still in touching distance of the play-offs before Saturday tells its own story how poor the league is overall.
Only have to look at the lack of egnuine quality from both teams in our game on Saturday for evidence how the quality is poorer than years gone by. Thats the worse Swansea side for years and we made them look like Man City. If they had a Piroe or a Danny Graham upfront instead of Liam Cullen on Saturday we would have lost that game by at least 5.
Surely ever more evidence that the greedy leagues policy of trousering as much cash as possible and keeping it away from the rest of football is widening the gap year on year
But Burnley were the best Championship side ever?!
