I think Warnock was unfairly stereotyped and he played up to it a bit, but you don't last that long smacking it up to a big man and chasing the ball. Man-for-man defending is quite normal in the premier league nowadays but it left KDB and Pep confused until they wore us down five years ago, not such a dinosaur as all.

I just don't think we'll be able to buy the quality of player to play the high ball retention that Bulut wants to play. The problem in the championship is there will be loads of teams with greater speed and stamina than our technical ability so we'll always be slow and predictable. Liverpool and Spurs are direct, its not aimless but its about getting the ball (under control) forward quicker.
