The reason Madrid went through wasn't tactical nous but sheer dumb luck.
Imagine imagine imagine, flawed, has no sense! Imagine De Bruyne scored and Madrid changed tactics in an instant and went and scored 30, to inflict the biggest ever champions league defeat ever. Just imagine that!

Madrid knew they had to score to have any chance of going through, but also knew that if they went toe to toe with man city they'd lose. Absolutely flawless game plan, that worked and they went through! On another day maybe Man City score 2 or 3 (and Madrid reply like they did in the 1st leg) but last night they didn't.

The defense won out over the attack, and the fact man city had all that possession in the areas they did but never really threatened is why i think the better team on the night eventually went through. Madrid were not lucky.

On Carlo Ancelotti grave stone it'll read, 'a lucky football manager with no tactical nous'
