Re: Significant Stats from a Strange Season

It's now 31 league games without City managing to beat an opponent by two or more goals, 32 games without the side scoring three or more goals in a Championship fixture and yet another defeat by two or more goals.

Relegated Rotherham United remain as the only team in the top five divisions of English football who are currently on a longer run of league games without a victory by two or more goals (it's 33 for them). Third on the list is mighty Morecambe, who are 15th in League Two. They are on a run of 26 games without a victory by two or more goals.

So, City eventually completed the 2023/24 season on a dismal run of 32 league games without beating an opponent by two or more goals - the third-longest run of that kind during a single season in the club's entire history and one which stretches back more than six months). Today's heavy defeat at Rotherham also meant that no other club in the top five divisions of English football ended the current campaign on a longer run (Morecambe finished second on the list with a string of 26 league games).

Meanwhile, City's run of league games without scoring three or more goals was extended to 33 - a new club record for a single season.

On the flip side, yet another defeat by two or more goals (there have 14 of those during the last six months) and yet another side has managed to score three or more goals against the Bluebirds (that has happened nine times during the same period).

    Great stuff.

Good spot. I make it that's 9 times in 31 games between Norwich home and today. That's not our worst run in this regard over the same number of games but it's the worst since Solskjaer and, before him, Alan Durban.

Yes, 33 league games since the 4-0 victory over Huddersfield without scoring three goals, but during that time the side has suffered the following defeats:

    2-3 v Norwich (H)
    0-3 v Hull (A)
    0-3 v Leeds (H)
    1-3 v Plymouth (A)
    1-4 v Norwich (A)
    1-3 v Hull (H)
    1-3 v Millwall (A)
    1-4 v Middlesbrough (H)
    2-5 v Rotherham (A)

But Erol Bulut, we want you to stay. Allegedly.

During which spell we've conceded more goals than at any point in this division since the days of Alan Durban. Just as well that Bulut has adopted such a defensive approach. Imagine how much worse it could have been.....

But they’re right. He can’t stay surely. He is not the answer.
