A document from Prevent, the official scheme to stop radicalisation, includes believing in socialism, communism, anti-fascism and anti-abortion in a list of potential signs of ideologies leading to terrorism.

It comes as the Conservative government considers widening what it will consider to be extremism.

This has always been a deeply warped government programme - exposed for a right wing ideological bias, an ingrained Islamophobia, and increasingly as a vehicle for suppressing views the government doesn't share (and labelling them extremism in a bout of deep irony).

Now the Tories are ramping up their culture wars, blowing the dog whistles, and feeding their media mates with another load of deflection headlines.
