David James is the current favourite, but he'd probably let the chance slip through his fingers 😄

I wonder if there is anything in this ?
The fact his name is even in the frame suggests that maybe either he wants to leave or City are prepared to let him go.
Who would we replace him with ?
Hasselbaink has been taken and Bellamy for me would be a massive gamble .
Any other names in the frame ?

My understanding is that it will be Bellamy sooner rather than later with a Director of football to assist.
D ofF not yet finalised
Mind you, as Luton get bigger crowds, will probably pay Slade more and show real ambition in progressing, you can argue it's an upward move.Originally Posted by Lawnmower wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 19:52

Bellamy would certainly rekindle the interest of the fans for a few weeks, but I wonder if things went poorly whether he could handle it.
We could be looking for another manager by May
Slade has done well enough here that he's pretty much guaranteed a, lower end, championship club next.
Corrected for youOriginally Posted by Lawnmower wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 20:11
I agree- he's not popular with Cardiff fans and probably never will be- but I'd guess outside of Cardiff he would be judged as having done a decent job here.Originally Posted by surge wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 20:22
I really hope there is something in this Luton thingOriginally Posted by Lawnmower wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 20:11
John Hartson applied apparently. He didn't hear back.
One assumes you have taken a visit to your generous bookmakers to take advantage of this understanding?Originally Posted by Elysium wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 19:57
Bellamy is a shrewd man indeed. He knowns that a managerial profile has to be built on succcess and the first club you choose is an important decision. The expectations now in terms of working for Tan is like someone demanding that you ejaculate in two minutes. Only to then find out that having agreed to the deal you you are going to start off sitting in a seat, with both hands chained behind you to the seat, and all you have to look at is a magazine cut out of Diane Abbott.Originally Posted by Lawnmower wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 20:11
ii) rightly or wrongly Tan does indeed have a poor reputation as an owner and someone as clever as Bellamy could easily manipulate the press into arguing any failure was totally Tan's fault and not his own so his reputation would not be hurt too much. (Not just Bellamy but any manager- look at how well Malky and his little team played the media and the fans lapped it up- "David Marshall why haven't you scored?")Originally Posted by Keyser Soze wrote on Tue, 29 December 2015 00:06
More of a gamble than sticking with the hopeless one?Originally Posted by Lawnmower wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 19:52
Agree with this entirely - I really hope that there is something to these Bellamy rumours.Originally Posted by thehumblegringo wrote on Mon, 28 December 2015 20:57
Bellamy being appointed in some capacity would be a boost for the club and its fans.
I have not done any research but how much managerial experience did eg Rowett have before he took over the job at Bham?
Problem I foresee as mentioned above is whether Bellamy could work with Tan.
ps. On another point, I do feel the players must shoulder a lot of the blame for losing 6 eminently attainable points in the past 2 games (incorrect penalty decision aside). I am not a fan of Slade but he has a right to be frustrated to see his team pass up 8-9 decent chances in those 2 games and ooncede 2 awful goals at MKD. Overall though I feel the cub needs a fresh man at the helm, whether it be an experienced guy with Bellamy or a young lower league manger who is not a 4-4-2 diehard. Personally I'd splash the cash to get Pearson but I suspect he is waiting for a PL berth.
Shouldn't that read "Slade now 442 favorite for Luton job"
Any ex player with a hole in their @rse could do the same job as Slade has done.
I hate to say it - but pashun mun , you want someone that is at least half alive rather than a ex geography teacher who urms and ah's his way through life.
Trollope seems to do most of the work and tactics - so I presume Slade must be a director of football - and that has hardly worked out great.
It might make sense, after all, for RS to be looking at other jobs.
Tan may be reluctant to sack 'his man', but may have made it clear that Slade can apply for other jobs ( therefore leaving Cardiff for a new challenge).
Just a hypothesis, but it would suit everyone.
If there were anything in that, the players would surely have worked it out.
May explain some of the uninspired performances.
Good luck with the application Russ.
Media rubbish
Like I say, he'd be a popular appointment- but very much a risk IMHO, whereas Slade is a relatively stable handOriginally Posted by TH63 wrote on Tue, 29 December 2015 03:29
Slade night on paper have the stronger squad, but I don't think there is a huge difference, certainly not enough to deem Rowett a success and Slade a failure as many fans are doingOriginally Posted by Cretin Hop wrote on Tue, 29 December 2015 09:31
Slades never going to win over the fans now.
Its a mixture of his tactics, his personality and the fact that there's still so much negativity around the club we need to find someone to vent our fustrations and disallusionment on.
The hangover of the rebrand and Premier League failure lingers on.
Warnock for me. At least he will get everyone on the pitch trying to win.
