Thanks Mrs Steve R...
My only thinking behind upgrading is support being cut off. Is that really an issue or should I just forget it all?
best thing i ever did. my desktop is flying now since i ditched windows 7.
I updated one laptop from Windows 7 and another from Windows 8.
There were a couple of minor issues around firewalls but otherwise it all went smoothly. Now used to Windows 10 and a convert.
Apart from an even bigger 'Big Brother' watching everything I do, there are no worries at all!
When you upgrade choose "Custom" (not Typical) when configuring in post-installation.
READ THE SMALL PRINT CAREFULLY and tick/untick the right boxes.
You can stop those details being sent to Microsoft.
In any case, big data is as targeted as carpet bombing.
Also have a look at this tool (free) to block telemetry to MS.

I have rolled back to windows 7 , not everyone is happy with windows 10 upgrade , might be worth some research before proceeding .

I upgraded recently, makes my laptop run like a dream.
Those scared of their own shadow should probably avoid it.
my 8yr old wants to Upgrade hers as they have in school, i find it hard to argue with that, though she only has Office installed on hers
unless you're paranoid about privacy settings?? Then no reason not to upgrade. Most of the bugs would have been ironed out by now.
Computer runs so much smoother, I now tend to leave my desktop of for weeks at a go without any slowdown, that would have been impossible under the old windows.
I had to rollback to Windows 7 after I upgraded as after a few days of Windows 10 I lost all my audio. I had no sound on anything. As soon as I did the rollback sound was fine again.
I know nothing about computers to be honest so asked a friend who does all this stuff. He said the only option I had was to rollback. It was only a month or so ago that I did it. Not sure why but thanks for the input (not a pun lol)
The main issue is that some of your third party programmes won't work. I use Quicken which is a financial software package and that won't work with Windows 10. For that reason I'm not bothering to upgrade as Windows 7 will continue to be supported by Microsoft until 14 January 2020
