Orgreave, Leveson 2, the Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) inquiry on the ropes, have the establishment lost their appetite for public enquiries after Hillsborough and Chilcot?
To be fair we have had a few inquiries and it does put a strain onto the public purse , it means lawyers making astonishing money from the public purse , and wealthy public service bods being dragged out of their retirement for a last pay day ,to adjudicate on a life that has passed us by , along with those sad behaviors no longer tolerated on either side.
Perhaps the West Yorkshire Police should be made to self fund Orgreave public inquiry if one is needed ?
They became very fashionable under the Blair government. In my view quite often an extraordinary waste of funds, that never really had any impact. Closure for some maybe. But as the Hillsborough enquiry shows, its doesn't always provide closure, merely the end of one thing and the start of another, that never really seems to end. In addition some facts are still covered up, so what is the point if its only an inquiry into things that are ready to be released, but not those that cant be released.
It's probably not a good time right now to be shining a light on government activities, what with the US trying to prevent a complete loss of faith in the politician process due to inherent corruption from top to bottom. The potential for everything to unravel is growing as people slowly realise that they've been conned. The only thing preventing this at the moment is a complicit media (it's all Russia' fault).
And some convincing visual evidence of Russian warplanes, ships and warheads , supporting a wicked man called Assad, again though I think the West is happy for this to be happening as it effects IS .
The moment of truth will come when this is over in Syria, and the Russians are asked the questions of Assad's behavior / regime,my guess the price of a foothold in that area is enough to accept any atrocity and do nothing .
