England v India, 2nd Test, Visakhapatnam

    Here we are then.

Kohli wins toss and India will bat first. Eurgh. As for England Jimmy Anderson is back in for Woakes who apparently has a knee issue.

I somewhat doubt this will play out like I hope it to

    22-2, pinch me!

You weren't dreaming, but 210-2 (dog stops play) isn't a dream either - England are probably already beaten if the pundits read the pitch right.

Those eyes must feel like sledgehammers.

Waking up at 4am it'd have be the FA Cup final in extra time to keep me awake.

Test matches in India can be so boring to watch because the pitches just don't do enough.
This one looks like going down that road.

Let's hope the foreigners get a right beating. Come on India!!!!

Piss poor by England. What a pathetic run out, school boy stuff.
It don't help that we only got 4 specialist batsmen and 2 of them are rookies. We're fooked.

No surprise that India haven't put us back in.
Broad was unlucky because it did look like the ball was going down leg. Probably would have been proved if Ansari hadn't wasted a review.
Can we save the game from here? Not a hope in hell.

Pitch seems to be disintegrating and every run is precious.
    Good toss to win.
England's only hope is a freak bout of rain!

Doubt we will get any rain, but we can hope that Kohli and Ashwin come down with the shits

I got the feeling from his interview this morning (after i got up early to watch a bit only to find that England had collapsed in spectacular style even by their own standards) that Cooke did win the toss

India's second highest win (249 was it?) against England apparently

    Difficult result to accept.
India were down and out in the first test and just managed to hold out for a draw.
The tables are turned and India win with ease.
India are a good side but seem to play a large percentage of their tests at home

Yes, I won't see India as being the best team in the world until they beat someone worthwhile away from home.

England are a maddening team though. They're probably going to lose this series and, given India's current strength at home, there's no disgrace in that. However, to hear the pundits talk you'd think they were right up there with the best when it comes to test cricket, but, lately, all they do is draw series against sides they should be beating - their top order batting is only slightly more reliable than Glamorgan's !

Bob, they have unearthed a diamond with young Hameed, he was run out in the first innings and got an unplayable grass cutter in the second, top order is fine its 4 and 5 where the issues are

They are up there with the better teams at the moment, but that is mainly down to there being no strong team in World cricket at the moment, rather than it being a strong England side. India will win all their games at home, but nothing away against a seaming ball, Australia are struggling at the moment against South Africa, Who England beat in a tour last winter.

The main problem is who replaces Broad and Anderson who are in the twilight of their international careers.

The middle order issues are solved by looking at the raft of attacking batsmen coming through the ranks, at county level, instead of rotating the same old faces who continually fail in tests.

However, the opening quickie options look limited especially as experience is so valuable for the fast bowlers. Assuming the selectors attempt to get another home summer out of the two incumbents we are looking at a rather green pairing come 2017/2018.

I think Jimmy bows out after next winter's Ashes tour. Something happens to Finn when he plays for England, he must lack self confidence and consistency because he's a hell of a bowler on his day. Broad is only 30, and I think they'll only have him playing tests, so he could play for a while longer. I suppose next cab on the rank is Jake Ball, it's a great shame Wood can't stay fit (he may have ended his career trying to keep Durham up, when the ECB knew it wasn't possible). I'd keep an eye on the Currans, I think they'll be knocking on the door before too long.
