Richard Stearman says City's game plan was 'not pretty'

Well if they are going out to play nativity instead of football what do they expect.
Grapes sour, bit of. (circa Yoda 2016)
I would suggest that the game stats e.g our 16 attempts on goal to their 4 firmly indicates that our game plan was far more effective than theirs. A case of sour grapes as BLUETIT has already stated
Never understood fans, players and manager criticising another teams tactics just after they have lost. If it works, it works and we are justified to play that way.
"We knew their game plan would be to put the ball in the box – it’s not pretty but that’s obviously the way they’re going.."
Yeah, let's all play pretty football and get relegated.
Who do these people think they are, inferring that their teams are "better" than others because they try and play football the "right" way?
Many have delusions of grandeur because they are picking up lots of money believing their coach's hype they must be so good that they can pick and choose how they want to play.
The only teams who can play the "right" way are those who are far more superior to the rest in their respective levels, for example Newcastle amongst one or two others in our division, Celtic in SPL, on a world level 1 or 2 in the prem, Bayern, RM, Barcelona etc...
Even the great Pep Guardiola, although defending the "right" way to play, is having to rethink his style in order to achieve results.
Mr Stearman needs to get real as he will soon be playing League 1 by trying to play the "right" way with Wanky Wanderers.
You always gotta be "IN THE BOX", for success
Over to you, Mrs Steve R
Lets be honest they weren't exactly the Dutch team of the 70s either.
Both teams tactics consisted of hoisting gary owen's in the general direction of the opposition centre backs who then returned the favour
This type of football was condemned under Slade because it wasn't proper football now all of a sudden the fans love it.
There are some double headers on here.
Sorry, here's the full article
Stearman bemoaned his own sides performance as Wolves lost 2 - 1 to the Bluebirds despite taking the lead at CCS on Tuesday.
But a second half comeback by Cardiff culminated with Anthony Pilkington's 86th minute winner.
Stearman told local paper The Express & Star “If we play with that nativity and we have a lack of men out there we’re going to concede goals and not pick up the points that maybe some of our play deserves. That’s why we find ourselves near the bottom of the league.”
“It really hurt, very much so. We were gutted we didn’t at least got a draw – we’ve really got to see those games out if we want to do anything in this division. We’ve got to learn quickly how to see games out. You saw how Cardiff did it. It’s very frustrating to play against and it’s something we need to learn.”
“We knew their game plan would be to put the ball in the box – it’s not pretty but that’s obviously the way they’re going. I felt we were a little bit naive, we gave away too many free kicks and throw-ins. Ultimately it’s cost us.”
Wolves are now below City in the Championship table.
Nothing wrong with what he has to say. We are route one and watching teams being pounded in their own box is quite enjoyable.
The difference with this and Slades side is he WOULDNT have changed anything at half time as he wasn't capable.
Wolves were dreadful in the whole and will probably go down if they continue to play like that.
I'd suggest he focuses his attention on their limitations 'cos they were utterly shit.
Warnock was simply the better Manger.
Jesus Christ
Worked it out today.
Results so far under Warnock 4 wins, 3 draws, 3 defeats.
If we'd performed like this from day 1 we'd only be 3-4 points off the play offs. In my opinion the last 10 games were much harder than the first 11 as well, so I don't think it's pushing it too much to think we would have had 33-34 points by now.
Stearman is no wise man, cribbing like that ..............has Richard Shepherd made a comment on this?
There are many different ways to play a football game, but if a more basic style is the way we're going then we need a strong sense of identity and togetherness throughout the club. It's not going to be like DJ's time here when we could win by three or four goals and play the most attractive football in the league (at times). I reckon Warnock can bring that strong core and he'll enjoy an opposition defender becoming vocally frustrated having come to our stadium and lost.
