Does the likes of Lambert, Fred, Pilks and Whitts have a future?
Piles & Whits should have. The other two? Who'd take them?
Hoillett perhaps. So much skill but doesn't know how and when to offload.
I have a feeling that Lambert will be an insurance job. Pilkington is a good all round footballer, who would hold his place in a top six Championship club but will his wage demands prove to be a barrier?
Whittingham is a conundrum, he has great ethnically ability, a wonderful left foot and great set piece delivery. Hiwever, does he have the athleticism, desire and work rate to fit into Warnock's high tempo tactical approach. I have been so excited by pace in our paly in recent weeks. We are creating so many chances from open play. Is Whittingham still capable of contributing significantly to Warnock's game plan at reduced wages? Big question! I don't have the answer but I know a man who does!
I'd keep Pilks, good player who can cover 3-4 positions.
We've got a few out of contract and it's these where the question lies
Depending on wage demands..
Hoilett- keep
Harris- keep
Whitts- 1 more year perhaps, but he might get better offers elsewhere
Adeyemi- go
Ajeyi- keep
Le Fondre- keep
Manga- think he'll go
Then there's a load of fringe players who've either gone or will go.
Looks like we'll have to sell 1 or 2 to bring money in.
Only ones who'll attract fees over £2m are Ken, Ralls , Gunnar (just) and Morrison.
Wouldn't want to lose any of these, but we need 1 probably 2 strikers, a keeper and midfield competition.
I think if Kennedy comes back and No one, Harris and Hoilett all stay and keep their recent form we might get away without the new winger.
Probably need another full back unless Declan comes good.
I think Whitts is gonna be sacrificed and it's sad considering how loyal he has been to us.
The problem i have is finding a realistic position for him.
The only position i could see him doing a job is the position David Silva and Iniesta play tucked in on the left in a 4-3-3.
I think Warnock could play this system effectively but i just don't think he fancies Whitts.
I would cash in on Pilkington nand Noone if offers come.
Whitts - Player/coach role
ALF's contract is up so let him go
Manga and Lambert can go
I think noone will go
Maybe Manga and Morrison will leave, Manga is out of contract so a big wage gone. Morrison could be sold for a fee and wages saved as well. Fred, Adeyemi, O'Keefe and Lee Fondre will all leave.
Looking at our squad, I think it's a given we'll keep
Sol Bamba
Matthew Connolly
Aron Gunnarsson
Greg Halford
Kadeem Harris
Rhys Healey
Junior Hoilett
Declan John
Sean Morrison
Brian Murphy
Craig Noone
Lee Peltier
Anthony Pilkington
Joe Ralls
Kenneth Zohore
These are likely to go if they can get decent contract offers elsewhere:
Semi Ajayi
Stuart O'Keefe
Ashley Richards
Peter Whittingham
While these will be gone:
Tom Adeyemi
Joe Bennett
Bruno Ecuele Manga
Frederic Gounongbe
Emyr Huws
Matthew Kennedy
Rickie Lambert
Adam Le Fondre
Idris Saadi
Ajayi, Kennedy and Huws will stay with Warnock working with them pre season before the main training starts. Witts should also stay possibly as player/coach.
Saadi is an interesting one. I'm told by a Kortik fan that he doesn't want to come back but won't sign for them either.
May well be that we can sell him to a continental side and recoup a reasonable fee after his goals this season.
Of course we will also have Amos off the books too.
Hopefully Lambert can get fit as he's technically a very good player and will be handy to have in the squad.
I'd expect Fred to go back to Belgium, but I'm still not convinced that he has 'nothing to offer' just yet.
I see Eric is binning Bennett, but he's got 2 years of contract left and is likely to stay. He's another who has something to offer, but needs a decent pre season.
