Thread: County watch...

    County watch...

Wow, 3-3 away in the opener.

Equaliser in stoppage time, well done!

In fact they scored twice in the final 15 minutes from 3-1 down, with sub Shawn McCoulsky equalising in injury time.

Played 2 seasons Welsh League at Newport as a teanager.

And I'm delighted City bagged all 3 points as the only away winners in the Championship. I'm living in the US at the moment so don't get to see City live - saw today's game on Ifollow and I was underwhelmed with the quality on show. As I said in my earlier post, though, it is too early to make lasting judgments, lot of new faces there and it will improve.

Fly home to CWL on Tuesday and will be there for the Sheff U game.

Hereford is 45 miles away. Herefordshire borders Gwent.

Life on Mars is absolutely correct that the Newport accent is influenced by the Herdordshire/West Country borders

    TBF, that's true.

Don't you have a 60 fags, five litres of Bucky and a w*nk party to get on with?

60 fags and 5 litres of Coatbridge table wine should be enough to guarantee prostitutes for a couple of years.

You didnt sound delighted in your post on the other thread. You sounded decidedly under whelmed. If you are home on Tuesday, why dont you come to the Villa game, if you are that much of a fan.

Yes, but it doesn't then explain the Kairdiff accent at all, which is hardly influenced by the Valleys or the Vale of Glam!

I thought it has something to do with the smoke from the factories, so most cities have harsh vowel sounds, such as Cardiff and Liverpool which have then created the habit from that. The exception is Bristol which (apart from slavery) produced Tobacco which doesn't produce factory smoke, so their accent is similar to a more "country" one. That might not be correct but it's a theory I have heard.
