It isn't really any different here, we just started from a far higher position due to us 'absorbing' other countries wealth for years and years. We are similarly a country where everyday working folk are increasingly getting shat on by people that adopt positions of power simply to feather their own nests. Blaming the ideas that underpin 'socialism' (which you may or may not be doing, but many commentators have) for acts of immense greed (30% of Venezuela's oil revenue disappearing into a few people's pockets) is like blaming a gun for shooting somebody. It is as though we are acknowledging that as human's we can't possibly be nice to each other so let's not even try.
