I'm a little lost now, was Whitts injured, niggled, fit, dropped or all of the previous. It all seems a little confused.
If he was still a the City he'd be tearing it up in this team.
I've missed enough of MOTD so I'll leave you pair to it.
Il look forward to the next Whitts bashing, I mean update, next week.
Bye
I actually think whittingham would work quite well in this side against teams we were supposed to beat. Surprising how much better his type of player (same for mcphail too) look better in a good hard working midfield.
I think it's shameful how people who've always had agendas like Eric and Nick are revelling in one of our best ever players getting on.
Where would he fit in the team though? He hasn't got the energy of Ralls and Gunnarson and he cant run or drive at defenders like Tomlin. Damour is obviously preferred away from home.
I have always been a massive Whitts fan but it's time to finally accept that an ageing Whitts is not best fit in a Neil Warnock team.
Whilst Whitts is clearly a better passer and better technically than Ralls he wouldn't have scored that goal yesterday. He wouldn't have burst into the box beyond Hoilett, if he was up with play he would have wanted the ball square so he could put a cross on.
Anyway, regardless of how he does at Blackburn he will always remain a Cardiff City legend to me. Producing some of the finest goals, and touches of ability I've witnessed at a football match. I certainly won't be revelling in his demise as a player. Unlike some.
Have to agree with JR here.
I have great memories of whitts and every time we get a free kick on the edge of the box, I wish he was still here, but the truth is those "he does what he wants" moments and the occasional killer pass would be the only things he could bring to the party imho.
A great player in his day, I desperately wish there could be some way for him to continue to be involved in Cardiff and I wish him every success. But we need to look forward, Whitts the player is, sadly, in the past.
The thought of whittingham playing in this high intensity , closing down, quick break away system is laughable.
He was excellent for us , no question , however he is not suited to this style of play.
Yeah, we need more youth players coming through lazing around in the middle of the park, jumping ship as soon as his money goes down to what they deserve & living off the back of a couple of good season many...many...many moons ago.
true legend..
It's a shame he isn't getting the game time he apparently left us for at Blackburn, such a trooper. I'm sure it had nothing to do with those tasty appearance bonuses in his contract...
On Channel 5 now.
Whitts started tonight against Burnley in the cup. Didnt see much of him in the highlights but one thing that is mystifying me is that he doesnt seem to be taking the free kicks - Mulgrew took two tonight right on the edge if the area, which is prime Whitts territory. Surely even dull, dour, Mowbray has to realise that Whitts is one one the best dead ball specialists anywhere in the league. What the hell did he sign him for if not that.
