Car manufacturers whose products you would never actually buy and why ?

Two from me to start the ball rolling.

Alfa Romeo - I had the misfortune to hire one for a weekend and it broke down every day.

Volkswagen - Getting past the fact that the Beetle was not lovable ( as in Herbie ) but was a Hitler
project. Their cars were always over priced based on ads claiming they were quality. The cheating involved in
the diesel emissions scandal showed that far from being respectable the VW company were a bunch of cyunts.
The Yanks get serious compensation , the Europeans seem to have got sweet fa.

Ford - just because owning a Focus is just so out of reach for the average family.
I've got 2 VWs btw and love them both.

9. Jaguar
8. Maserati
7. Mercedes-Benz
6. Pagani
5. Aston Martin
4. Bentley
3. Rolls Royce
2. Bugatti

Why? I could never afford any of them and couldn't care less about owning or driving any of them. I just don't understand the appeal.

I got a BMW from 1997. It works fine. I don't really look after it truth be told but it drives and drives. I do think some cars are more reliable than others. Cost me £300 4 years go and it just don't stop, unless i put the brakes on.

I'd go along with this, wouldn't drive anything ostentatious. Was stuck behind a Ferrari at lights a while back, noisy bleeding thing, expect something a bit quieter for that sort of money. No interest whatsoever in cars though, booked mine in for a service once and didn't know the engine size when asked.

jon1959 i understand what you mean you wouldn't buy any of the top of range cars because of the price range but i bet if money was no object you would . if i had the dosh i would plump for the jaguar xe/ xf range . the new range rover velar would be on my radar too an incredible piece of engineering

This is easy. Volvo. No doubt the best car for money right now. interior and reliability is second to none. But I'm selling my V60, and looking at Tesla. Unlike Wez, i belive in global warming.. Even with new data..

Used to drive Renaults for work; even brand new they were bloody awful and forever breaking down.
I'd never buy a French car, they're just not very good!

If money was no object I would donate my fortune to charity - except for the cost of a very big caravan and very underpowered towing car - and get my motoring kicks by driving in front of Jeremy Clarkson down narrow country roads (in the Cotswolds of course). Bliss!

Same here. I was into cars until I was about 19. Since then they are just functional items for me. All I want is something that gets me where I want to go in relative comfort and that doesn't break down too often. I actually find motorway driving a right pain in the arse to be honest, with all the aggressive Gary Tossers on the road.

This and what Ian said. Despite having an absolutely brilliant time there last summer, I wouldn't go near a French car.

I am in the no French car group as well.
Every single person I know who has owned one has had significant problems.
Probably would avoid the German cars as well as although very good you appear to pay a significant premium for the privilege.
All said and done not really a car man so the last few have been Honda Accord estates. Ugly old beasts but work on demand every time and that's all I ever look for in a car.
