Just equalised for Austria against Serbia.
Yeah we know. It’s on the match thread.
He's a pretty good player, I'd have him back.
Getting interesting innit.
Edit - oh right, there's a thread already.
They’ll probably beat Georgia but mathematically we could still win the group??
Georgia more than capable of holding Serbia as well I'd say.
Very. A draw with Georgia is not out of the question.
Yes, Wales can win the group.
Imagine this scenario
Ireland take the lead in Wales, go second, Wales 3rd.
Ten minutes left, Serbia top, Ireland 2nd, Wales going out in third. Then, Georgia take the lead in Serbia, Ireland now top, Serbia 2nd on goals scored, and Wales still 3rd.
Wales get an equaliser, now Serbia are back top, Wales second and Ireland 3rd. Last minute, Wales grab a winner, Wales first, Serbia second Ireland third.
Georgia have drawn in both Cardiff and Vienna and have conceded almost half of the number of goals away from home that they've let in at home (only 5 on their travels in 4 games). No team has done the 'double' over Georgia in this group. Add to the equation Serbian nerves - a Serbian win is far from guaranteed.
Daring to dream.
But stuff like Wales winning and others tripping up for Wales to qualify for a World Cup doesn't happen! Does it !?
Save your voices/energy folk! Monday is 'sporting earthquake' material - and we are involved
I actually think I'd now prefer to be in Wales' shoes. They know they have to win to stand a chance of being in the playoffs, but they now know a win could bring automatic qualification. I think the nerves will all be in Serbia at kick-off time, but the night could be one of the most dramatic in qualification history, with anyone of three able to qualify automatically.
I will take either...
As long as nobody mentions the scenario where Georgia beat Serbia and we choke, losing to Ireland!
Guido Burgstaller - Bluebird and honorary Dragon!
One of the many 'what ifs' of recent Cardiff history.
