Low taxation ?? 40% income tax, 12- 14% national insurance, then up to 20% VAT ? The f......g government already steals nearly two thirds of MY MONEY to generally waste and p.ss down the drain.
Tell you what, there's absolutely nothing stopping you sending a check to HMRC if you want to pay more tax - feel free..
Mike can you move this to the political forum please.
There are some fools who still believe in politics.
Big companies pay little tax / have sweetheart deals whilst employing many ===> evil scum.
Self employed getting paid cash in hand, not declaring it to evade tax ===> salt of the earth.
Where as using tax payers money to pay teachers who teach socialism in the classroom and encourage children to ostracise the children of anyone who votes tory is presumably acceptable.
don't youthink any teacher who teaches politics in the classroom should be barred? Or is it OK if it's socialism they are teaching/
it's taxpayers money!!
My post was merely correcting your assertion that increasing taxation primes the economy. It does not. As to my voting habits I am a now a floating voter as I regard myself to be sufficiently astute to make up my own mind and not follow blindly one particular Party. Although I was a card carrying member of the Labour Party for many years I couldn't bring myself to agree with much Corbyn and Co have to offer especially as the solution is not to chuck money at any problem that might arise.
I am predominantly a labour voter but can’t say I agree with your views.
I work for a large house builder and not only would we struggle to actually build that many homes as a country (there’s physically not enough trades to do the work required) councils can be highly inefficient and would not trust to build that many houses.
Also, I don’t like the fact we have to put social houses on private developments. Undermines property ownership but that’s just my view.
I don't believe politicians promises TBH.
I don't believe they even believe any of it either.
Recent events ought to have taught us that much.
A number of seasoned Political commentators seemed to describe today's events as 'successful' in as much as the current Gov't hoped to get through the day without too much mishap, backlash and difficulty. - What?!
Just how low has the bar dropped?! - if that is considered a valid objective.
They should be putting the Nation's interests first, not their own desperate survival.
There has been a media driven narrative for seven years that austerity was the only option. Austerity has failed. The national debt is considerably larger now than seven years ago. Osborne said the deficit would be cleared by 2015. He failed. So we continue to spend more than we bring in with tax receipts so the national debt continues to rise.
Sadly this doesn’t bring back those that have committed suicide because their welfare benefits were stopped as they were allegedly fit for work. We have a friend who is going through a tribunal shortly. Her welfare payments have been stopped. She has breast cancer and had issues with her brain making it incredibly difficult for her to walk. Despite her doctor writing a letter supporting her all the way her welfare benefit was not reinstated. It is shameful. This is the reality of Tory Britain. Targeted austerity of the weak and disabled.
Surely he would have heard most of this budget detail in real time - he seemed to be responding to points that he'd made written notes of - for some of the time. He warmed up a little after that I thought ;)
But for anyone who prefers thigh slapping, arm waving and loud, laughable bollocks, Panto season is nearly here, as is Brexit 'negotiations'.
Well for starters there was a development about 200m from my door. Agreed by local area because it was supposed to have a hotel, care home and commercial units. These vanished and they build 90 more flats.
I saw program recently about property in london, I thought it was on channel 4 with phil spencer but I can't find it. He went to a couple of developments that were agreed based on them providing x number of 'affordable' units which never materialised.
