On the other hand, what will most of us be doing in our 70s?

Oh dear. Old people playing music associated with their days of energy, virility, rebelliousness and vigour.
A tad embarrassing.
On the other hand, what will most of us be doing in our 70s?
I somehow manage to agree with each and all points made in this thread so far.
Enjoy Robin Trower last time he was in your neck of the woods?
I saw DP in Cardiff and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Should anyone want to SEE the BBC 'In Concert' show, it can be accessed here:
Yeah, they are all in their late 60's and 70s, but they know a thing about playing good rock between them.....
If you like expen$ive cabaret shows.
They may still have talent - individually - but for most people it becomes embarrassing to see 70 year old's perform songs of their youth.
A youth culture of half a century ago.
What should we applaud? - 'well done for still being capable/alive? - or for standing up for so long'. ;)
All that said ..
I think that ex DP member Glenn 'voice of rock' Hughes (and excellent bass player) is still capable of being an entertaining musician. Typically, the current DP line-up don't seem to want him around..
Er....they actually performed most of the songs from their Infinity album recorded this year - so hardly "songs of their youth"
Although I will grant you that it was stonkin' versions of Space Trucking followed by Smoke on the Water that really got the crowd outta their seats - which was a miracle in itself as the average age of punters was about 75.
I see lots of ageing musicians who I think still do a terrific job live on stage. I just thought that the Deep Purple gig didn't cut the mustard. By the way, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden was interviewed on Radio 5 this week and he mentioned that his drummer also played in an Iron Maiden tribute band!
Aye, but what do you write rock songs about when you are well into your old age and comfortably off?
Meeting a right GILF in the Post Office, but you didn't quite catch what she said - something about the weather or the queue?
Taking dentures out for extra fun?
Prolapses?
Cat been gone for two days, such a worry?
Surely they've faded to mauve these days?
You obviously know absolutely nothing about Deep Purple. Since 1996, when Steve Morse joined them, they have released 6 new original music albums, the latest being in early 2017. Each one of these was a stand alone work of excellence by mature musicians and all compare favourably with most of their releases in the 70's and 80's. On tour at least half of their set comprises new material and always has. What has their age got to do with it - if they are still able to produce excellent music and have the energy to tour then why shouldnt they carry on doing it. Dont take my word for it, read the glowing reviews online of their recent UK tour. If you apply what you are saying about Ian Gillan (who can still hit the high notes by the way) then I assume that you think that The Stones should get rid of Mick Jagger as well. There were plenty of young fans at Cardiff Motorpoint recently and it was sold out, as is the rest of their tour.
