Long time MB poster Mark Symonds, who posted as The Alien, has passed away.
Mark was disagnosed with bowel cancer in 2015 and despite battling to overcome it he suffered set backs with secondary cancers in his pelvis and lungs and subsequent kidney failure.
After coming through all of that he continued to fight and was posting on CCMB as recently as January. A couple of weeks ago the cancer came back and though doctors gave him six months to live he sadly died in the early hours of today.
Thoughts to Mark's family.

I think he a was a roofer wasn't he, who seemed to to help out loads of fellow message boarders.
That’s really sad news. Like others have said I only knew him from here but he seemed a really nice bloke.
He serves to remind us to live in the now as much as possible. I’m going to go and build a snowman and stop working for a while...
Sad news, long time poster on here. Rip bluebird
Words never suffice when someone passes....
Oh shit, no. That just rocked me.
Really nice bloke was Mark.

That's sad news. One of the Old Skool posters on this board and the one before it. R I P Mark
Very sad news. I think he spent a lot of time down my way ( Tenby) with his family but I never got to meet him.
Condolences to his family.
Rest in peace, Bluebird. You will be missed x
I am truly shocked by this news.
Mark asked me to research a branch of his family history which was particularly difficult to nail down. His report was sent last Spring. At no time did he 'let on' about his illness - though I noticed he stopped posting towards the end of last year and messaged him in January - again, no word about his problems.
I found him helpful, genuine and generous.
If anyone has details of his funeral, I'd be grateful if you would let me know, please.
I've just realised he lived about 6 doors up from me on opposite side of my street.
Terrible News, I met Mark numerous times, a thoroughly likeable person with a heart of gold, Mark with his son did some roofing work for me, I have basically stopped using MB's and social media since the new year but have been browsing about dropping in occasionally and have known that Mark has been poorly for some time.
R.I.P Mark
Sincere condolences to Tricia, all of Mark's family and friends.
terrible news . bumped into Mark a number of occasions over the years down the city and a few years ago sorted my roof out when needed
RIP Mark
