he's be better off staying where he is
I thought he was a promising young defender and I was quite disappointed when he was released. He appears to have suffered from being part of the revamp of the U23 set up, particularly when I think he's as good as most of those brought in.
However, one of those signed who did look good was Tyrone Duffus from Everton but I haven't seen him feature at all in pre season so far. Perhaps he's gone down the same road.
I wondered where Duffus was too and had a quick look on his Twitter.
The 2 most recent (re)tweets were a picture of him and Jamie Veale back on a training pitch on 1 June, and Callum Patterson's new contract photo with Warnock and Choo on 6 July. That suggests he is back at Cardiff and probably fit - but that doesn't explain why he hasn't featured in Cornwall. I suppose someone (or many someones) has to make way for all the trialists?

Seems like James will be one of a trio of youngish Welsh players moving from the lower divisions to the Championship;=

Good news and good moves to a fairly stable championship club.
Think there has to be a real drive for league one Welsh players to break into Championship teams, Championship Welsh players into premier league clubs etc. I respect Joe Allen for wanting to help get Stoke back up, and I can see the argument that they're far more likely to stay up than if he moved to a Huddersfield (for example of a smaller team not yet established in the premier league), but really a player of his quality should be pushing for a move to a top 10 premier league side (Everton?) or abroad even if that means following Hoilett's example of short term championship contract and re-negotiate.
No idea on Duffus. As TOBW says, he got a knee injury at Hereford and I saw him on crutches at a DVP game in January. If it was an ACL then he still may not be fully fit but I'm not even sure if he's signed the year's extension that was offered to him recently. Same goes for Ibrahim Meite and Lloyd Humphries, I don't understand the lack of information from the club on stuff like this.
Tom James was an odd one. He'd played at centre back here for so long, maybe he struggled at first when he got moved to right back (even though that was his original position here, I believe). We released him and he joined Yeovil on Jan 13th 2017 but only made one start and two substitute appearances for them in the rest of that season. His form obviously wasn't great so I can understand if the club felt he'd run his course here. I would've liked to have seen him tried in centre mid, his defensive capabilities matched with his excellent passing seemed suited to that, but it looks like he's going to make it as a right back after all. Good luck to him.
Seems like a good move for all parties, although I'd have expected him to go for a bit more.
West Brom now, apparently.

To follow on from earlier in the thread, Tyrone Duffus still isn't match fit, apparently, but I still haven't seen anything on Ibrahim Meite. I'm slightly confused by the Meite situation, he's 22 now so wouldn't be able to be a stand-by for the Premier League but if he's injured then I'm not sure how we'll get someone to take him on loan either. Hanging around here for a season as our DVP striker seems pointless, unless we're actually going to take that seriously this season, so I'm not sure what the plan was in offering him a new deal.
When was Meite offered a new deal? - I missed that.
He was originally signed on an 18 month deal in January 2017, and Wales Online were confidently saying in April he would be leaving this summer along with most of the other out of contract players (except Murphy, Gunnar and Junior). WOL.... I know!

He always looked promising but no more - and certainly wasn't going to break into the first team this season. The loan spell at Crawley was so-so, and he didn't do himself any favours with the drink driving conviction.

But as you say, an extended contract (if that is what happened) to play in the u23s makes little sense.
Says here (and in other places) when our retained list was announced. His Wiki page still says he's a City player but I've no idea what's happening with him.

Thanks - missed it.
West Brom's bid for James accepted by Yeovil - it's a club record fee for the west country team.
