University of Manchester Students' Union bans clapping

Read that earlier. Some people have far too much time on their hands.
A ban wouldn't have any affect on the real hardcore cult members at CCS. dml1954, as an example, could have his arms and legs shackled but still find a way to stand on his seat to clap like a demented seal every time City win a throw-in.
And you are not demented?
Nothing worse than the clap
It's wierd how this story keeps resurfacing, it's almost as though the newspapers are running out of things to annoy us with.
This first surfaced 4 years ago at least, and the last time I checked clapping was still pretty widespread - except of course for in the houses of parliament where it has been actively discouraged for a very long time, without anyone feeling that it was an affront on their way of life.
The thunder clap would be a bit tame.
Which made me think of this beauty https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tgS1RFk1cU8
What a load of clap
To be fair, I thought that the crowd was still very supportive and animated even last Sunday - and those who stayed behind (or can't exit the stadium for ten minutes due to the appalling exits that clog up) met the team and Warnock with a sustained round of applause after the game had finished.
Sludge has proposed silently waving one's old boy around as an alternative method of expressing approval. Humouring his madcap, and typically filthy suggestion, I asked how women might convey their agreement. "By shaking their thingummyjigs," came his reply accompanied with his familiar smutty grin.
