Apparently (as mentioned by the commentator on NBC) we won by "sheer Welsh willpower". Not one Welshman in the squad. Must have been the fans.
Etheridge 7 - Top save at 1-1
Manga 6 – Crossing again lets him down.
Bamba 7 – Had a nightmare first half but gets a 7 just for that match winner.
Morrisson 7 – Put his body on the line on several occasions. Hope he’s alright.
Cunningham 5 – He looks like he hasn’t played enough football. Why did he keep slipping over? I don’t know much about his past career but looks awkward going forward.
Gunnarsson 7 – Drove the team on in the last 20 minutes
Ralls 6 – Covered a lot of ground but either played simple passes or hoofed it.
Camarasa 8 – The bloke has a wand on his right foot. If only we had better forwards to feed off him.
Harris 8 – Did great for the first and came so close to putting us 2-1 up. Very pleasing to see his development.
Murphy 6 – Possibly his worst game for us. Nothing really worked and Brighton roughed him up a bit.
Paterson 8 – It’s hard to say anything bad about him really. Gives his all for the whole 96mins and scored again.
Peltier 6
Reid 6
Hoilett 6
How did you lot see it? Feels good to get the early win.
Hope everyone enjoy's the break. Happy days.
Thank god we won but that was painful viewing until the end, I thought when Morrison had to go off it would force warnock to go with 3 at the back because it was fecking pointless carrying on with 4 and then on comes peltier ffs who has no business playing for a team in the premier league
GREAT RESULT
I will enjoy that one but bloody hell we were poor.
We deserved that luck though at the end. Absolutely buzzing.
I know it was a painful watch at times and to me, some questionable subs and tactics but at the moment all that counts is the 3 points.
Onwards and upwards
Uddersfield and Newcastle winning at the moment. Back in the bottom 3 ffs.
Positives:
- Gunnarson's performance dragged us away from conceding late to winning the game. If you're not scoring him 9 out of 10 in your player ratings just for what his performance meant then have another look.
- Camarasa, Patterson and Etheridge put in a solid performance.
- 3 points and now pressure on others.
Negatives:
- Ralls was not match-fit yet was required to 76 minutes which shows our lack in depth.
- Manga ended up playing CB and RB from 70 mins onwards as Peliter is one of a) not a premier league player b) just returning from a bad injury or c) a mixture of the two
- Morrison injury is a potential negative if it's going to keep him out for any amount of time
- Our front 3 looked as if this was their first game playing together. Very disjointed in attack.
Super-negative:
- What do you do if you've just won your second premier league game and the fans are celebrating? Drown them out with a crap light show and loud music of course. Whoever was in charge of that needs to have a major rethink.
Agree with all of that. Paterson was badly isolated second half. Our support player down the wings is non existent sometimes. Only when we kept our width in second half did we look like creating something.
We need a a right back who can attack and provide natural width , and an intelligent striker to make runs. That being said we needed them last January.
Murphy needs to learn when to release the ball
Totally agree.
I’ve read the whole thread and no one has mentioned Gunnar, who was by far our best player. He won everything, and was tidy on the ball for the most part.
I was fuming when he brought Pelts on, meaning one of Reid and Ward wouldn’t get on. We needed an out and out striker on the pitch for the last 15-20 mins. Felt we could’ve gone to 3 at the back and swapped Morrison for an attacker. But then after that they had a couple of breaks where they looked dangerous, so maybe I was wrong and Neil was right.
Forget the performance, which I didn’t think was great, it’s all about the 3 points today. Bluebirds
