Both search vessels have moved around a lot since this morning, but the search area has been small & consistent. The Morven is current in port in Guernsey the Geo Ocean III has been at anchor since 4pm.

The news we were all fearing but were resigned to hearing about. Echo the thoughts above around closure. RIP Bluebird.
Apparently the plane is empty therefore they both managed to leave the plane ........ my God I hope they didn't suffer.

The plane carrying footballer Emiliano Sala and his pilot has been found following a sonar search - with both occupants missing and presumed dead.
So the wreckage has been searched?
Hmm. On second reading- that may just be clumsy writing.
In that the current known public situation is they are missing presumed dead- rather than a full search of the aircraft and the surrounding area has also been done?
Not sure though.
Listening to David Mearns’ statement it sounds like the bodies have been found.
I hope that is the case as if they’re not with the plane it’s unlikely they’ll be found.
I think you're correct, it doesn't actually specify that the wreckage has been searched, just located?
The amount of shipping in the channel area shown by the tracking map is quite staggering. Makes you realise how busy it is on a daily basis.
They will be sending a camera down if they haven't already.
They would have sent one down to be able to id the wreck.
I believe it was the AAIB ship who were doing it, as the privately funded vessel returned to the harbour soon after the discovery. An announcement will be made tomorrow morning. Very sad news.
They would have sent an rov down to positively id the plane before informing the AAIB team. I’m sure the AAIB guys will be doing the same though.
The news we all expected I guess. At least the news came fairly rapidly unlike other plane disappearances. Hopefully it will be possible to work out what went wrong.
