    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-48714414

    Getting closer?

"Planes were in the air and ships were in position, but no missiles had been fired when word came to stand down," the newspaper reported, citing an unnamed senior administration official.

Trump initially order attacks but then backed down.

Getting very very twitchy a gulf war with Iran would be Catastrophic.

    Mental.

Seem inevitable at the moment, the American right seem to be itching to start it

I'd say it's inevitable, the US seem desperate for it. I hope we don't get involved in it again, how many young men were killed in Iraq for nothing?

I can't see why Iran, only recently welcomed back into the international community would want to start a war that it would almost certainly lose, and become a pariah state.
The only winners in that situation are the other oil producing nations who get a much higher price for their oil all of a sudden.

Maybe it’s best to keep an open mind at present before making insinuating comments which could backfire on you.

With Britain's Got Talent finishing a few weeks ago and the start of this year's The Great British Bake Off being a few months off there's hardly anything worth a gander on the box at present so watching nukes fly back and forth over the Middle East would be a welcome development from a TV entertainment perspective.

Iran must be the most readied nation to retaliate in history as they've had 40 years to prepare for Yankee aggression. What surprises do they have in store? Highly mobile weapon systems, that's what. Goat and camel-mounted surface-to-air missiles are amongst their armoury, and should they run out of rockets then imams will volunteer to be propelled at US warplanes.

Most of the Iranian people are against their own government, so this could be the tipping point that is required to remedy that situation.

Did you miss all the mass protests and the subsequent crackdown on dissent? We are talking about an authoritarian regime here. It may be your kind of thing, but the people of Iran are not so keen.

I don't think it will happen. I think Trump and co want it, but hopefully someone will be there to rein them in.

There is also a lot of stuff going on geopolitically, for example the trade dispute between China and the US, so with the Strait of Hormuz closed it puts China at a disadvatage since the US is now energy independent. Coincidentally, both countries will meet at the G20 next week with a trade deal on the agenda, so the current situation in the Gulf very much favours the US.

BTW - Why don't you speak about the topic, instead of being obsessed with other posters? Come on mate, I know you can do better than this, since you are an ex-wannabe journalist yourself

This is another straight from the Iraq playbook of bullshit.

Do you think bombing the **** out of a place helps with an "authoritarian regime"?

Exactly. Look where Iraq got us.
If Trump wants to bomb an authoritarian regime he ought to start with his friends in Saudi.
