I'm sure most would say Debbie Harry or maybe Stevie Nicks.
My personal favourite would be Delores O'Riorden
Grace Slick
For vocals, it has to be Ann Wilson, lead singer from Heart

mainstream - Debbie harry
non main stream - emanuela Hutter

Pauline Murray
Susannah hoffs
Patti Smith.
Janis Joplin
Harriet Wheeler of the Sundays has the voice of an angel
Tatiana Shmaylyuk
Kate Pierson
Lene Nystrøm
Sandy Denny of course!
Martha Reeves, of Martha & The Vandellas, Gladys Horton, of the Marvelettes, or Carolyn Gill of the Velvelettes. Loads of great female singers from the 60s soul era! In the rock world it has to be Janis Joplin and Grace Slick
Difficult
Like,
Joan Armatrading
Alanis Morissette
Nico
but decided on
Suzanne Vega
Can remember buying this album on advice from an audiophile magazine
No one went for the souful ones like , Amy Winehouse ,or one of our best ever sellers Sade ?
Lots of good singers mentioned so far. However you can hardly say, for example, that Janis Joplin was better than Sandy Denny or vice versa as they had completely different voices singing in different genres.
