Each to there own and all that, but i can't stand ELO especially that Mr Blue Sky Song. Sorry.
Fab stuff, caught some of it on the way home. Got straight home a searched on tour news of which there isn't any. Saw him at the O2 on the last tour it was great.
Love their new tune.
Enjoyed the last hour of my drive home.
My other half tried to get tickets for this show but no luck.
They're no Wishbone Ash..
Bit out of the blue this. Don't bring me down!
But seriously ELO a decent band in their day some great songs and no doubting Jeff Lynne's talent but, as with many successful records, they get played to death and they end up grating on people.
Mr Blue Sky is one example of this.
Another generation are waking up to ELO due to the renewed airtime on Radio 2, new single/album and sell out tours with old farts wanting to get to see as many bands as they can before they, or the band, die just so they can say they've seen them.
Not for me I'm afraid.
Can't stand them I'm afraid. Even at the height of their pomp n' fame back in the 70s they were nothing more than an easy-listening, Beatles wannabe (that still makes them a zillion times better than Oasis mind, and about a trillion times better than Noel Gallagher's High Flying Turds) pop-rock band.
Shocked and aghast that anyone would criticise the mighty ELO. I don't recall the last time my hast was so agged.
Wild West Hero, possibly their best recording.
I've seen three orchestras live:
ELO
The Mahavishnu Orchestra (a John McLaughlin combo, obviously jazzy)
and The Fusion Orchestra (whose female singer did incredibly lewd things with the microphone)
There's culture for you....
