specifically...England.
They have all 3 group games at home.
..have they any more?
I'm really pleased we've qualified but it's tainted by not being held in one country..tomorrows draw isn't exciting me as it should be..anyone else?
I think England will play every game at Wembley bar the quarters. Absolute joke.
Round of 16 and quarters* can't find edit button
It’s disgraceful. The teams that are not hosts are at a huge disadvantage compared with the half of the teams that are hosts.
utter garbage
It would have been a good idea if they restricted it to nations who would never normally be able to host a tournament. Complete joke when they gave the bigger nations most of the games.
It’s a farce. Undermines the tournament.
Shut up you tarts - seems like England is basically hosting it but some more important games being held elsewhere.. hosts always have an advantage.. so ****ing what.. we got to the semis in France - the best team will win the trophy regardless, always been the case! (apart from that time Greece won)
Agree with this. They should arrange a schedule in advance those not having one for years should have been given games.
You should have 1 game in home country with schedule confirmed after the draw.
The draw should have been done after teams qualify. The group B is ridiculous playing a top seed and 2 away games
It feels that this tournament will be like the one in 1976 where Wales reached the quarter finals but not until the Semis did the tournament start.
Considering the brief seemed to be about sharing around the international tournament between countries who would never otherwise be able to host one on their own, it seems like a complete failure of that brief that England are effectively hosting. To add on on top the home advantage for the minnows of Italy, Russia, England at the group stages and the tournament for smaller nations has become even more bizarre in its execution.
Yes, hosts have an advantage. In the international game, the team at home will score on average 0.5 goals more than the away team, even more when in an international tournament. The world cup has been won by the hosts 6 times. The Euros won 3 times. If you count the times the hosts have reached the semis then it is scary! 13/15 hosts have made it to the semis in the Euros. But playing at home will give even poor sides a boost, South Korea beat so many in 2002 to reach the semi finals!
I think that the point people are making is that it is not being billed as "England EURO 2020" but England are getting all the advantages of it being this.
There is no doubt in my mind that it is a shambles both in its organisation and environmentally.
From the stats that Since1927 has highlighted, England should piss it!
Games are also being played in Scotland and Ireland! We missed out despite having a bigger Stadium? It should have been Euros UK and Ireland rather than go all over Europe?
