What did you want to do when you grew up?

Most kids dream of being a footballer, astronaut, pilot etc.
I wanted to be a lorry driver for some reason.
I now drive a lorry for a living and it's a rubbish job

Long hours, crap money, roads and traffic are a mare.
I'd much rather be floating round in space.

Air Force pilot, 100%. On my bedroom wall at home I had football posters, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Michelle Gellar and autographs of fighter pilots. Unfortunately when I went to the Air Force offices I was given a test and it turned out my maths and physics are nowhere near good enough.

I now manufacture anti aircraft weaponry, if I can't do it no one can*

Ditto I Also wanted to be long distance hgv driver, been all over Britain now a shunter moving trailers from one building to the another less than half mile four times a day. I work 9 til 5

When I was about 5 years old, I wanted to be a road worker. I would practise doing road works in the back garden and I even had my own traffic cones.

Skips, tippers and ash carts for me. I start at 6.15 am and finish anywhere between 4pm and 7pm. I've done tramping and hated it. I've recently had to spend five days in a classroom doing my CPC course, which involved listening to someone telling me how to do my job that I've been doing before he was born. It also cost me £250 for the pleasure. Next Saturday on my day off I have to drive to Newport (50 mile round trip) for a medical which is costing me £55, plus fuel and parking. Then on the Monday and Tuesday I'm in Cardiff doing an ADR course 8am til 5,30pm.
Wish I'd paid more attention in school instead of looking at Karens ample bosoms

When I was in a career class aged 15, the teacher asked everyone what they wanted to do.
When he came to me I said I'd like to be a Postman...start early..finish at lunchtime and have the rest of the day to myself.
Eventually I worked in the warehouse trade for 20 odd years..then, hankering for the outside I became a window cleaner.
I won't become rich doing this but it's great being your own boss and not clicking on etc...and the outdoor's a great place to be..except December and January!

I got to renew my licence in so a medical £55 new photo lucky the company pay for the CPC course (attendance only course)

There is a place in Cardiff that do medicals on Saturday ( Big Wheels)

I'm doing my medical with D4Drivers Newport, which is slightly nearer to me than Cardiff. Part of me is hoping I fail it so I can burn my working boots
