Jesus!
That's a text book manoeuvre, probably done on autopilot.
I don't think it was on autopilot but it was as you say text book stuff.
This is why pilots are trained. In crosswind conditions flying is very challenging. In three dimensions there is a huge amount of training and skill involved in getting a plane that size in exactly the right place for touchdown.
If its not right the pilot goes around and getting it right first time is not only down to skill. Often going around is the correct option for the pilot.
Going around does not mean a pilot got things wrong.
It makes me smile whenever we land in Jersey in difficult conditions that the whole A320 plane bursts into a round of applause on touchdown.
Happened on my flight home after Luton away last week.
I always get a very similar wheeled trolley in Tesco! They could train pilots in supermarkets.
What makes it more awsome was that there were 2 pilots flying the thing
Doing a "crab" landing takes a great amount of co-ordination between the pilot and his feel fot the plane, but when hwe has to co-ordinate everything with another pilot as well it becomes truly amazing.
Remember that guy who said he was a professional pilot who was on here around the time of the Sala crash? Or more likely, the multi that pretended to be a pilot around the time of the Sala crash? That was weird
Beast of a plane, I went on an A380 last year, landing wasn't like that!!!!!, brown trouser moment
