Thread: What's the most scared you have ever been following city away ?

Swansea away mid 90s when we were only allowed around 150 tickets. Night game. I think it was a FAW cup game. Parked by the civic centre. Was ok before the game but after the game the police just let about 8 of us back to our car as travelled by coach. The 8 consisted of me,my mate and 2 or 3 dads with a few young kids no older than 7 or 8. Brown trousers time as we approached the road by the prison and one of the little ****ers started chanting Cardiff songs!!! Ben Johnson wouldn’t have caught me and my mate that day.
Managed to get to the car unscathed but the bastards were walking around the car park looking for stragglers. Took our Stone Island patches off and played it cool with the doors locked.

I got kidnapped in Cardiff Central by a train mob full of Jacks when Wales played Holland at the Arms Park around 97ish? I was blotto and could barely stand waiting for the Merthyr train and they had left the game early to get the train home safely rather than wait for the final whistle. Some older fella got me in a headlock and said “You’re coming with us mush” much to the laughter of the rest of them, but luckily a transport copper spotted what he did and released me. Didn’t think nothing of it at the time as I was so pissed, but I used to often wonder what would have happened if that copper didn’t intervene. That little lot smashed the train up on the way home, so I doubt we would have had a nice civil game of eye spy!!

Swansea away early 80's. We were behind the goal with the Jacks above us in the stand. Think they went up that year and we were too near the bottom for comfort. Peter Kitchen scored a late equaliser and all hell broke loose from above. Stones, bottles of piss and even darts came raining down. Even getting out was a nightmare as the old bill insisted on escorting us all to the station which was miles from where my car was and threatened to arrest me for arguing.

It was a league cup away game , we won two nil down the vetch

Most of us were escorted back to the train station

A group of about fifty port Talbot and neath bluebirds decided to stay on and the scrapping went on long into the night

They became outnumbered and were chased into the sea

Easy for me not scared but had to scrap and escape :

Millwall :Cold Blow Lane bus highjacked in town centre .
Palace : chased and isolated by mounted coppers.
Bristol Rovers: scrap at Eastville Station .
    Brizzies: Aberfan chants game.
Portsmouth: trapped behind the ground in a lane which coppers sent us down, caught by fans ,atch up visit to Portsmouth infirmary
County away v Ipswich Frankie's idea of fun.
Leeds : cup game trying to get to the ground from the train got stoned on trying to run up the hill to the ground .

    Phew I survived

Newport circa 1970. I think the match at Somerton Park was abandoned. I recall the air being thick with stones and bottles on their terraces. Afterwards it was a full on riot with nutters trying to turn over cars, put shop windows through, being chased along the road by the police etc. Put the much younger me off going to matches for a long time. PTSD.

Not sure if they lobotomise them all at birth and then fed them steroids but it certainly looked like that was the case and then there were the men.
Grim up north did not even begin to cover it.
Not convinced about that. In the dungeon years City had good away support and probably caused more aggro than was received. Away days at Stockport, Rochdale, Wigan, Halifax etc were good fun if you kept on your toes..

They brought hardly any fans down to a game against city in 84 , the same season of that battle of st Andrew's

I would say about 500 which was crap for a top five second division side as they were at the time

The trouble was their nutters , with knives didn't even bother going to the game and ambushed city fans a few hours after the end of the match

Didn't witness it but it sounded terrifying
